How-to Beat Xol the Unscathed – Dungeon Run Final Boss Guide

Xol the Unscathed is a unique final boss that stands in the way of you and dungeon run immortality! This guide should help you defeat her and take one step closer to the Candle King card back.

Xol the Unscathed Basic Information

  • Hero Power: Beam Me Up (Passive) – At the end of your turn, add a Beam to your hand.
  • Flavor: She’s got her eye’s on you. ALL of her eyes.
  • Starting Health: 70

Xol the Unscathed was a bit of a surprise final boss as she’s not involved in the expansion otherwise.

Xol the Unscathed’s Deck

Xol runs a Discard Warlock deck, and if you’ve been playing much Hearthstone you’ll know that it isn’t that great of a deck. The danger of Xol mostly lies in her Beams.

How-to Defeat Xol the Unscathed

One of the key things to know about Xol is that at the end of her turn her hero power will trigger followed by an emote. The emote indicates which one of the following beams she has received:

  • “Fatality” – Beam of Death: Destroy all damaged enemy minions.
  • “Fatigue” – Beam of Decay: Destroy 1 of your opponent’s Mana Crystal.
  • “Fear” – Beam of Fear: Shuffle a random enemy minion into your opponent’s deck.
  • “Flame” – Beam of Fire: Deal 2 damage to all enemy minions.
  • “Flummox” – Beam of Confusion: Take control of a random enemy minion.
  • “Frost” – Beam of Frost: Freeze a random enemy minion and the minions next to it.

It will be important for you to take note on which of these she has and play your turn accordingly. If she gets a Beam of Confusion it’s probably best not to play a single big minion on the board. If she gets Beam of Fear then you should play a minion that potentially has Battlecry and can be useful again later. If she gets Beam of Fire then it would be best not to play a bunch of cheap low-health minions etc.

One card you are pretty much hoping she will play is Howlfiend. You want this card on the board because if you are able you can control when she completes Lakkari Sacrifice and can then potentially force her to discard the Nether Portal. You would ideally not want to deal with spawning imps every single turn as well as dealing with her beams.

Another key is being very aware of what she has discarded. She’s running a couple Cataclysm and Dark Bargain as AOE removal, but she also has a Deathwing, so once these cards are gone you will be pretty much free to play whatever you want.

Although she has multiple AOE removals it seems like your best bet is multiple minions on the board so you aren’t just losing them to Beam of Confusion and Fear. The hope is that she will inevitably discard the majority of the AOE allowing you to consistently get in damage. She has no way to gain health back, making an aggressive deck with semi-high health minions one of the best ways to crush her.

If you are lucky with what beams she get you can also just out-value her (especially if you force her to discard the quest reward). She discards a lot of her cards so other than getting a beam every turn she will generally be low on cards.

Hopefully these tips help you get the upper-hand in your epic duel with Xol the Unscathed! Good luck with all of your future dungeon runs!

I finally mustered up the courage to play this dungeon run after taking ages to win with Mage, and I got through this bs boss kinda easily with my broken warlock deck, decktracker saved my loadout so its down below, dont know why it says Monster Hunt.

As a relatively new player, this run made me love warlock and the broken cards it had, made me wish i had played the game earlier to enjoy them. But basically in my first run with warlock i missed play and choose double battlecry, and i had a few cards afterwards that discards cards…not to mention I got the Deathknight, so on my second run I aimed for buckets with big boi demons. I’d say I lucked out with my treasures with my passives being: Captured Flag which gave my minions +1/+1; Small Backpack, draw 3 cards at the start of your turn. But the treasures that was the most op was the 2 mana Horn of the Cenarius which recruits 3 minions, which rarely was bad for me and only once did it not pull out a Voidlord and the last treasure that made the Xol fight stupid easy (with the knowledge of this site of course) was the 1 mana Boots of Haste, the next minions you play this turn cost 0, which is op op :D. My only dismay was that I didn’t get to play buffed up Mal’Ganis or Lord Jaraxxus :(.

Thank you sooo much for the guide, helped me play around the boss and get an easy win!!

Bah just had a crappy loss as jade druid against this one. She spammed the board so fast I couldn’t regain control.

I think I once won by getting her to flummox Lorewalker Cho, which gave me a copy of nether portal and many beams and occupied one of her creature slots.

I beat him with Priest using unique C’Thun Razakus deck having Reno Jackson and double Battlecry so it was very easy to deal with his imps

Oh wow I got an EASY win with paladin!! Here’s how: I had a Silver Hand Rexruit dexk build, REALLY good to beat up his Howlfiend 1 HP at a time, and one card a a time.

But… more importantly, I took the gloves of mugging as a treasure and was lucky enough having it in my hand at the very start!! So it was the very first thing I played, and considering he has four cards and I stole three right from the start, I had 75% chance to steal his quest, which is exactly what happened.

Combining that and my silver hand minions beating up on both his howlfiends, the win was easy.

Not sure if I got so lucky that this will help anyone or not, but that strat works just fine!

Or you could use my tried-and-true skill based method of defeating xol twice….. the rod of roasting!
Works 100% of the time with no luck or rng involved whatsoever!
I’ve successfully beaten four of my nine dungeon runs with rod of roasting! It does work best if you have double life though, purely because of non rng skill based reasons.
10/10 rod of roasting best dungeon item!

Also, you can use Gloves of Muggling to steal her quest.
