Post nerf has been fun, but Druid is still the most versatile, and I think the C’thun archetype is viable as a top tier deck.

I’ve been toying with this list for a while and I think I have it where I want it. I just don;t have the time to grind out to legend.

Enough upvotes and I’ll gladly do a full writeup . 8 is enough for me to do the write up. Here goes:

The main game plan for the deck is to ramp and curve out with taunt minions, then use C’thun as a finisher and hadronox for huge value. It’s a fairly simple deck to play, so doesn’t require too much detail.

lets look at some card packages and explanations:

CTHUN PACKAGE: Twin Emperor Vek'lor Twilight Geomancer Disciple of C'Thun Crazed Worshipper Dark Arakkoa. These cards are all part of the C’thun package, but synergize quite well with the taunt theme and Hadronox, especially Crazed Worshipper, Dark Arakkoa and Twin Emperor Vek'lor

OTHER TAUNTS: The Curator Primordial Drake The Lich King Spreading PlagueStonehill Defender . Curator digs for Hadronox and so Primordial Drake seems like an easy include for curve and removal and taunt purposes. The Lich King  is simply the best taunt in the game, and easy to bring out with the ramp cards. Spreading Plague is a must due to aggro decks reemergence. Although it waters down your Hadronox, you will not get to play hadronox against aggro without playing plague, and so the consistency demands 2 copies IMHO. Stonehill Defender is a good way to search for more cthun pieces in dark arakkoa and is a good early game stall, it also curves fine into stonehill defender

SUPPORT SPELLS:Earthen Scales Jade Idol Wrath SwipeUltimate Infestation. To me, this is where the deck can vary quite a bit. Currently I’m running 2 earthen scales but i think it might be too much and is often a dead card early-mid game, it also gets tagged by skulking geist so i may remove. The single copy of jade idol is because I’ve fatigued myself many times against control decks, but if you see more aggro, put in some removal, a second swipe perhaps. wrath is self explanatory. Single copy of ultimate as we have many bombs and only need the one.

Matchups:

vs big priest – aim to ramp and out value him with big minions, careful not to get hadronox silenced

vs combo razakaza priest – aim to load up on armor and save your 4/6 taunters for after a dragonfire potion, careful not to get hadronox

vs aggro pirates – look for your small taunts in mulligan, but overall this matchup is favorable

vs jade druid – look to outramp and outvalue, hadronox can be huge in this matchup

vs evo shaman – this matchup can be tough, play around devolve and use spreading plague wisely

vs control demons – ramp hard and start pumping C’thun, a big one is tough for them to stop

I’ve been toying with a non-chtun version of this with more deathrattles and nzoth, and even have considered putting a copy just to get another hadronox. Might be worth testing in here

Nice write up. I have a couple of questions:

    1. Do you consider Hadronox vital for this deck? What would be your proposed replacements?

    2. Any thoughts on using Malfurion the Pestilent in such a deck?

      1. Vital. No. But really has huge value in control matchups. consider a second ultimate infestation

      2. he is in there 😉

    +2 Mark of the lotus
    -1 hadronox
    -1 Jade idol
    seems like a good improvement.

Not a big fan of mark of the lotus, notice how only very OP pumps get played in real play (like spikeridged steed). It opens up for way too much 2 for 1, and you don;t need more taunt in this deck, and have few targets for it that dont already have taunt.

I like the idea for the deck, but I wonder if Spreading Plague is actually appropriate in this. If my longterm goal is to bring my dead taunts back to life with Hadronox, I think I’d rather bring back something with better stats than a 1/5. Maybe cut back to one and replace with a second Nourish?

Also, that Jade Idol does seem unnecessary. More ramp seems better, even a nerfed Innervate.

      very fair points.

now that i have the full write-up, it might be clearer as to the choices.

jade can certainly come out. I had it in there as I was playing a lot of priests and was getting fatigued a lot.

I do think 2 spreading is needed for consistency… see description

    Hey,
why Jade Idol ? For late game to delay fatigue ?
