Mulligans

This is a slight twist on the new Odd Paladin mechanic.  This deck runs so many buffs while at the same time getting exposed to many board clears that the Devilsaur eggs have been causing confusion for many of my opponents on how to handle my board.

The other atypical card that has been working wonders is Witches Cauldron.  If you can build a board, which is extremely easy to do over and over again without completely exhausting your resources because of the upgraded hero power, it becomes a massive value generator that can give you more win conditions (bloodlust is gold here).

Mulligan theory: you really want a one drop like argent squire (I like to play this before righteous protector since it trades well and the taunt from the protector helps protect your board later and you don’t usually need it immediately).  Lost in the jungle is great but I try to save it for a pre-Level Up! turn to maximize the amount of buffs from it.  I always hold on to a Level up since you know you’ll have plenty of chances to get those recruits out by turn 5.  I only keep the egg when you also have a cheap buff to go with it (acherus or blessing of might).  Ironbeak owls are pretty much only here for warlock, and is imperative as long as they’re flooding the meta.  With taunt Druid and quest warrior, it can also help get you through to face.

Mulligan summary:

high priority: Corridor Creeper, argent squire, Level up!, lost in the jungle

Good: devilaur egg (only with acherus or blessing), ironbeak (against pretty much warlock only)

I’m waiting to craft a Harrison Jones until the Meta settles, but feel free to sub one in since there plenty of decks running weapons right now that you can get tons of value out of it.

Comment and and let me know what you think or if you have any suggestion/questions!  I haven’t been tracking my win rate but I’d estimate nearly 70% between rank 7 and 3 so far and I’m still climbing.  It’s a quick deck to play which really makes climbing the ladder go a lot faster and less choresome.  Happy hunting!

    I would love to play this deck but I miss the most important cards i.e. creeper, cauldron, and level up :'(

    Considered abusive over glacial shard? It would synergies with the egg and give a little extra reach. Although I personally love shard I think sergeant might be a better card in this deck.

      this might sound silly, but what about skellemancer. I feel like when I play baku pally I give my opponent 1 option… clear the bored or die. So why not get an 8/8 instead of a 5/5?

        bored=board

        Thanks for the input. Skelemaner could be intriguing, and I loved running it in the era of bonemare, but the issue with the egg is it’s a little slow and this is synergizing as a token/aggro deck and skelemancer is even worse in that department with the higher cost. If the egg gets silenced since most decks have a silence option, you’re not as badly burned (Austin powers anyone?). Also with the egg, you get the egg and 2 1/1 silver hands that complicate the board for the same price as the skelemancer. I’m addition, i find that I have a lot more control over trades than my opponents and so you don’t have to rely on your opponents timing to get that 8/8 since you can’t trade skelemancer into them but have to wait for them to make the trade, which they’ll probably only do if you can land a taunt buff from your mauls.

        Abusive could possibly be better than shard but it’s gotta be close. You’ll notice all the buffs that I’m running are permanent and not single turn, so your egg can start getting annoying if they don’t deal with it and more annoying if they do, hence the confusion that forces mistakes. My goal is rarely to trade it for the 5/5 deathrattle making it the biggest target. It’s a lot easier for your opponent to clear a single target than having something they have to deal with twice, but silences do exist and so I’m careful to only buff it enough to start causing problems.

        Cheers Zippedup

          Great deck and great coments! I will replace my build for yours! Yet I really don’t feel like crafting corridor creeper again… what would you think of Marsh Drake and Leeroy instead?

            Marsh drake was really under-performing for me but what substitutions you make greatly depends on what you expect to encounter. i.e. Lights justice, boisterous bard and tar creeper are great in my anti agro list. against midrangy decks another glacial shard might be strong. Closing out control decks can come down to burn which in this deck means buffs and chargers, leroy or abusive could be good tech, also. Four other cards that are just really solid in the deck are storm wind knight, fire fly, or dire mole (admittedly firefly has good synergy with creeper). Honestly I will never craft another corridor creeper and I think that no matter how strong it is in this deck as future expansions drop better cards will replace it.
