Love this guy. I think he’s better than you think, if only because he does gain the stats even if he would otherwise be killed (I think so at least), meaning you can technically tank up to 8 damage with him. Plus the effect is just quite good, since it’s not everyday you face a minion with more than 7 health anyway.

Plus I actually wanted Varian as a HERO, for such an important character this should be an obvious choice, while I like Katrana Prestor I’m quite disappointed they still haven’t made him into a hero. He feels like a natural alternative to Garrosh.

Not bad actually. This is very decent tempo. Without a pirate, it’s mediocre, but not unplayable. With a Pirate, it’s just really good tempo. Feels like a Rogue card almost. 4/5

A neutral? This is a shame. Varian should be a Warrior card.

I’m also confused by the “nameless Mage/Priest” thing. For the most part I like Hearthstone’s Heroes and I don’t feel like they’re devoid of personality, even the basic ones. From a cosmetic standpoint, I don’t think more things should be changed. What I would like is more basic Hero Powers, and you can choose the one that suits you best. Duels already have those, so why not constructed?

Glad to see we agree. I’m not sure why they do this, but I’m thinking maybe it’s because this isn’t a paid skin?

I was stoked about the Druid skin, then I realized it’s not Fandral Staghelm, it’s just Edgy Malfurion™. Still looks great, but missed opportunity I feel!

I’m excited!

I, for one, am not a great fan of the latest trend of having a billion different versions of the same hero as “alternate” costumes. I see the appeal, but i would much rather enjoy a more diverse range of CHARACTERS, rather than versions of a particular character. That is especially true for Valeera. We have literally one alternative, it’s Maiev, and I think it’s safe to say that there is a tremendous amount of untapped potential for other characters.

Paladin isn’t doing well? So the nerfs were actually significant in bringing them down?

I do hope they become available for gold at some point. Though it indeed looks like it’s not in their plans, unfortunately. I’ve been looking forward to Death Wing and N’Zoth in particular, and they were both pre order guys.

Despite the 2000 gold offer being better, I think I’m gonna just craft Kresh and get the other cards out of packs, since I don’t need most of them anyway. Didn’t want to wait till I got the extra 1000 gold.

It’s not broken.
Sabotaging enemy spells surely is a nice thing. But we’re still looking at a 8/8 with Taunt. It’s okay-ish at best, minus the spell effect. Many classes can get rid of it regardless, either with tools other than spells, or despite the debuff, such as using Coerce for 5 mana, or just throwing a Brawl in regardless (you can afford to play a 7 mana brawl). It’s not broken, it’s okay. 3/5 is probably what’s it’s worth.

You can get very high damage with this and Nitroboost.

Its only downside might be that it is in everyway, incapable of saving you from dire situations. Sure the frenzy 8 armor is great, but when you’re really against an aggro deck, you can’t afford to play this. It has no immediate effect and can be completely ignored, which isn’t great for a 6 mana card. For that reason alone it can’t go higher than 4 in my opinion.

The 2/5 weapon is juicy for sure, but I would say what really makes this card for me is the Frenzy and beast tag. 8 armor Saurfang is really good.
