New Progression System (Battle Pass) Should Be More Rewarding Than The Current System

You are probably right – it should be reset every expansion, and yeah, they will have to do some UI update to incorporate the new system.

I don’t think that Quests will be removed per se – Quests will still be a thing, but they will give you XP instead of Gold. And that XP will progress you on the Battle Pass, which then will give you rewards like Gold and extra packs. Which means that Legendary Quests should work just like they do right now.

As for your last question – most of the current Quests allow you to progress even when you lose games (e.g. you need to deal X damage, destroy X minions, play X games with a class) so I imagine that it won’t change. If anything, I think that since the goal is to make the system work for any game format (so you can for example play Battlegrounds and still progress), they will rework the Quests and make them more “player friendly”.

I think that since they’re already talking so much about the system, we should learn more about it in the coming weeks or months. I expect some kind of blog post or official video about it quite soon.

New Progression System (Battle Pass) Should Be More Rewarding Than The Current System

I’m 99% that it won’t be this expansion, but it should be quite soon if they’re already talking about it and not keeping it a secret (plus it sounds like they already have the numbers – otherwise Iksar wouldn’t be able to say with such certainty that the rewards will be higher).

So I would say next expansion. And since, from what it sounds, the battle pass would reset with every expansion, launching it alongside the expansion’s release would make most sense.

In other words, my educated guess would be December 2020 πŸ™‚

When Nature Was Tamed: Which Druid Decks Were Nerfed Across the Years?

(Copying my reply to another comment since it’s basically the same topic)

There was a similar question in the last AMA and they said that they’re working on a major overwork of the Basic/Classic set (currently planned to release with the next rotation). I would imagine some of the cards will get unnerfed / we might get new versions of them altogether.

But yes, cards like Keeper of the Grove or Ancient of Lore should get unnerfed IMO. Nourish for example – hard to say, it’s already good at 6 in Quest Druid for example, I think that it can stay that way.

Yeah, sort of, it was hard to classify. It has some Spell Damage synergies, some Overload synergies, some Aggro/Burn cards…

Budget Tempo Mage Deck List & Guide (Scholomance Academy)

Hey,

First of all, I’m happy to hear that you’re enjoying our site! I’m not sure why you can’t comment in the other post.

Yeah, English is not my first language and especially when I’m writing something hastily (and around expansion releases I’m writing everything hastily) I tend to make a bunch of mistakes.

Thanks for the suggestion, we’ve already thought about it in the past, but I’m afraid that we can’t really afford to hire an editor, at least not yet. I’ll try my best to write more coherently, though πŸ™‚

Will We Have a Balance Update Soon? And Which Cards Are Most Likely to Get Nerfed?

First of all, I completely don’t understand why are you so angry.

As for your point about Truesilver Champion – it’s a great card, it has seen play nearly every time Paladin was played. Last time it was played in Descent of Dragons (and earlier) in Shirvallah / Holy Wrath Paladin. It’s just that Paladin didn’t see much play between then and now, so obviously the card also wasn’t played. But the card was played or at least considered in nearly every Paladin deck in the history of the class. It’s still one of the better Basic/Classic Paladin cards.

And I don’t care how long the class wasn’t viable, if it’s too strong right now, it deserves a nerf. The mindset of “this class was weak for a few expansions so it’s okay if it’s overpowered now” is silly and doesn’t lead to a balanced game.

If you read everything carefully, I even said that if they decide to nerf the deck, I hope they won’t go too hard on it. Nerfing something doesn’t mean killing it. A good nerf will still leave the cards playable. I also didn’t say that ALL of those cards should get nerfed, I even put that part in bold.

And finally, no one is crying for a nerf – I’m not ASKING those cards to get nerfed, I’m just predicting which ones might get hit based on the power levels and general consensus. And as it turns out, I was correct for two of them. I’m also pretty sure that at least one or two more cards I’ve mentioned will eventually get nerfed. This is not written out of spite – I’m playing those cards myself, it’s just what I think Blizzard will do.

Budget Secret Face Hunter Deck List & Guide (Scholomance Academy)

It’s a really interesting topic for an article, we’ll definitely think about it! But for now we’re going to focus on the higher priority guides / updates, there’s always a lot to cover around new expansion releases πŸ™‚

Best Hearthstone Decks - Standard Meta Tier List - Across the Timeways (November 2025)

Totem Shaman is pretty weak, sadly, and while it has its moments, I don’t think it stands up for the rest of the meta. Big Warrior I thought about putting higher, but the deck was outclassed by Bomb Warrior for the last 2-3 days so I had to put it lower.

And Illusion Mage has low enough sample size that I can’t really put a number to it… It’s really hard to say how good it is right now. Opinions vary from an actual good, meta deck to terrible meme build.

I’ll do another big update after 2 weeks or so, when the meta settles πŸ™‚ Or after a balance update if we’ll have one, of course.

Setting Expectations for the New Battle Pass System

The goal is to make you able to progress no matter what mode you’re playing. Right now, you can finish your Quests mainly in Constructed modes – like sure, you can do it in Arena & Brawl too, but it’s usually not that simple. And you can’t finish them at all in Battlegrounds. When more modes will get released, the problem will be even bigger.

Now, letting players earn XP by playing in any game mode is beneficial, because you can e.g. play Battlegrounds and still grind gold for the Tavern Pass. Or you can play some new mode that’s not out yet and grind for packs from the latest expansion you can play in Standard.

If implemented correctly, the new system would streamline the rewards / progression across all formats. And that’s a good thing.

Of course, another reason is that Battle Passes make you attached more to the game – when you see what you’ve already got and all the rewards ahead of you (including some unique cosmetics), you don’t want to miss out on them, so you keep playing.

Hearthstone Battle Pass? - More Info About the New Progress System

No no, the chart shown at the top was example given in the survey, Ben Lee said that they the actual implementation would be different than what they shown in the survey. I don’t think that they would push it in that format after people complained so much.

Nomi Priest - kenneth1999 - Scholomance Academy

Strategy: You finish the game with Animated Broomstick into Chef Nomi, killing Broom off against the opponent minions and playing Mindrender Illucia. You use your removals earlier so your opponent has no way to clear your board.

And if you suspect that your opponent will have a big board, you can also set up Imprisoned Vilefiend 2 turns earlier and when it wakes up play Nomi, kill off Vilefiend into something, play Wave of Apathy and then Mindrender Illucia with no other removals in your hand.

Swapping hands means that you take board clears from your opponent and they face a board of 6/6’s.

Illusion Mage - #14 Legend (Eggowaffle/Eddie) - Scholomance Academy

I mean, you can technically still win some games, but if you don’t want to waste your time you can probably just concede. That’s the biggest downside of this deck.

Illusion Mage - Legend (λ©”μ‹œμ—7) - Scholomance Academy

The idea behind the deck is that you play only 3 spells, so Tortollan is guaranteed to offer you Potion of Illusion, which then gives you a 1 mana copy of Tortollan. Then you play a bunch of Battlecry minions and keep getting more copies with ‘infinite’ Potions of Illusion.

Hotfix for Mindrender Illucia & Drakkari Enchanter

I think that’s more of a general card game thing – every time you add a card to your deck, you obviously need to shuffle the entire deck, because otherwise you would know where the card is. In Hearthstone it’s different, because it’s done automatically and you never know where the game puts it, but I guess they kept it to feel more “real” (for physical card gamers it honestly feels pretty natural to shuffle deck all the time, lol).

It was confirmed a long time ago, but in the past it was never really an issue. Only recently we’ve started getting effects that place the cards in a certain order – like Sightless Watcher in Ashes of Outland (the card you put on top would be gone if you shuffled something else to your deck) or Polkelt and Sphere of Sapience this time around. I hope that they end up adding more similar effects in the future too.

And I actually quite like it – it gives those effects some sort of counter. Your opponent can also shuffle cards into your deck to randomize it again after you play Polkelt, for example.

Best Scholomance Academy Decks From Day 1

DH is doing okay, it just doesn’t dominate the meta like some people have predicted. We’ll see in a couple of days, I’m pretty sure that Aggro/Tempo DH will be viable, but I don’t think that other archetypes like Control will be a thing for now.
