Top Standard Legend Decks From Scholomance Academy – Week 4 – August 2020

It’s been over 3 weeks since Scholomance Academy’s release, and with only a single, not very relevant nerf patch, the meta is stabilizing. That’s actually quite interesting – players were worried that Dual Class cards in particular will bring a lot of unhealthy combos and synergies, but it all turned out okay. While it’s not completely balanced, I don’t think that any deck can be called really “problematic”, to the point that I wouldn’t be surprised if they left the things as they are for a while longer. I DO expect that we’ll have a balance patch at one point – even if not nerfs, then at least some buffs. That’s because the goal of such update is not only balancing the meta, but also shaking it up, letting people experiment again and allowing new decks to be viable.

The current meta is very diverse – nearly every class is viable. I’m saying nearly, because sadly Shaman doesn’t have any Tier 1 or 2 deck – stuff like Totem Shaman & Quest Shaman are Tier 3, barely playable, but not good enough. However, fans of any other class can enjoy how the game plays now, because they all have at least a single deck that’s working well. Yes, some are better – Rogue for example is by far the most popular, and variants of Aggro Rogue are some of the best builds right now. As for the power shifts we’ve experienced over the last week – Face Hunter has risen both in terms of popularity and win rate. The deck is now close to the top of the power level charts, basically out of nowhere. Another deck that’s still rising is Soul Demon Hunter – it started seeing more play on the ladder last week, but now it took over Aggro/Tempo Demon Hunter as the most popular build in Legend – a trend that might drip down to the lower ranks too quite soon (although Aggro decks are always popular at lower ranks, so it’s hard to say).

Overall, despite the meta not shifting nearly as quickly as earlier (and as quickly as some players would want it to), I believe that some good builds are yet to be discovered. Constantly changing format of Grandmasters is forcing pro players to try out new stuff to get one step ahead of their opponents. Today’s the final day of Week 3, and so far the tournament was really fun to watch!

Soul demon hunter is so much fun to play and against certain decks requires a lot of thinking. On the same topic, are there any plans to release a guide on the deck? Much appreciated even if you don’t :).

There are. In fact, it’s already being written – should be released in a few days! 🙂

And yeah, I agree, the deck is super fun to play.
