Naga Giant
I remember how busted the Arcane Giant was, and it was 12 mana. The only way for this Giant to come out later than him is by having your spells cost less than 1,6 mana on average, and I’d say that’s not a whole lot, is it? If your deck is entriely made out of spells, and many decks are right now, you can get this Giant out on turn 6 for 0 mana, without making the commitment of having to play something that costs more than 7 mana first, like you do with the Strong Man. Sure, it doesn’t have Rush not Taunt, but nor does the Flesh Giant, and that didn’t stop him from being ridicolously op. By all means, I hope I’m wrong: I don’t enjoy this kind of mana cheating cards, if it ends up being shit, then that’s a win in my book. But I don’t find that likely, that’s all.
Naga Giant
I am fucking done with these damn Giants. They are always broken, they always have to get nerfed. C’mon, this shit needs to end.
From Dungeons to Duels (and Beyond): Revisiting Tombs of Terror
Loving this series! Can’t wait for the next one.
Kripparian and RegisKillbing Offered Their Crossroads Innvitational Slots, Lunaloveee and Avelline Replace Them
Props to Regis and Kripp, two of the best HS streamers out there. Not satisfied with Blizzard’s hipocrisy though: they tried to count this as a collective win, but nothing stopped them from inviting more women in the first place, it’s not like they couldn’t have switched some of the lesser known streamers in the list in favour of more female ones. It’s not their win at all, but it’s also not that big of a win in the first place: this kind of representation is something is you can feel good about only when it’s not done by the same company who tried to pander to the Chinese government over and over again. I don’t know about you, but I feel like the whole Honk Hong scandal speaks volumes on what Blizzard values more, and until it doesn’t come clean from that garbage, having two more female streamers in the Innvitational won’t make me revaluate the company as a whole, even more so because it wasn’t even their initiative in the first place.
Wicked Stab (Rank 1)
Eviscerate is going to the wild format, so there’s no competition for this card.
Dean "Iksar" Ayala's Twitter Q&A - February 10, 2021 - Roundup of All Answers - Upgrading to Gold Cards, Core Set, Cosmetic Rewards for Difficult Achievements, Tauren Hero
I swear to God if they put Defile in Standard once again I am leaving this hellhole of a game.
Soulciologist Malicia
Preety nice and strong, but I don’t think that the soul fragment archetype will exist in a vacuum. I think of it more as a supporting package, like Galakrond is for many control archetypes or tempo ones. At the same time, this card doesn’t seem nowhere near as good as a payoff as Galakrond is for most classes. That doesn’t mean that it’s bad, though: I think that it’s hard to rate the card if you don’t play a bit with the deck to find out how many soul fragments you have in the deck at turn 7.
4 Stars.
Instructor Fireheart
Preety interesting card, but I don’t think that that’s the card that will help Control Shaman, which does not lack removals nor spells, it lacks wincons. I find it a nice addition to an archetype that needs something else to really take off, but I think that it is preety overrated.
3 Stars.
Professor Slate
This card seems very scary to me. Making every spell in your hand a removal not only will give you a big advantage, but can even be preety snowbally, since constantly removing the enemy’s board will make it harder for him to remove Professor Slate.
I think that this will be widely used in many Hunter’s archetypes.
Lore of Legendaries: Descent of Dragons
It happened to me the yesterday: I dropped the Big Ol’ Whelp and I just “kinda forgot” about the enemy Dragonsbane.
Descent of Dragons Card Review #8 (Final) - Violet Spellwing, Elemental Allies, Skybarge, Aeroponics, Skyfin, Squallhunter, Tasty Flyfish and more!
When talking about the Grizzled Wizard you addressed the hp of the Hero Cards, but not the ones from the Quests? I guess that the card is still bad, but I think that it was meant to counter those pesky super strong hero powers of the Uldum’s quests. I think that it would be interesting to swap hp with a quest shaman, paladin or priest.
Zzeraku the Warped
I don’t get the high ratings. The stats are good, but it’s not really a control card that you’d want to use in a control deck like Dragon Warlock. It is not a win condition, it is useless against aggro, because it doesn’t affect the board right away. It is decent against control, but far from being a real threat. The only “good” matchup would be midrange, but even there an 8 mana minion that doesn’t affect the board might lose you the game. The flavour of the card is super cool, but I don’t think that Zzeraku will find a home in any kind of good deck.
Bad Luck Albatross
Please tell me that it is a reference to Coleridge and the Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner.
Apart from that, I really really like the concept behind this card, but I am not convinced it is worth it. Let’s all remember that Bomb warrior was already a counter to highlander decks, and yet none started playing bomb cards to counter it. I think that this card could be used only in some midrange hunter deck, but not good enough to see play elsewhere, and even in hunter it will struggle a lot to find a place in highlander hunter or something else.
Dragoncaster
Another good card for highalnder dragon mage, but not as good as the breath of Malygos himself. It’s like Arcane Tyrant, but a bit worse in my opinion for the restrictions it has and because it comes one turn later. Comparing it to Solya, of course this takes the cake, but it’s not like Solya was that good to begin with (I remember some highlander mage decks that wouldn’t even put her in the decklist).
Anyway, I definitely think it will receive play in some big spell mage deck.
Arcane Breath
Really good spell for highlander dragon mage that will obviously see play in there. I don’t think that it’s good enough for Cyclone mage to start running dragons, unless some really good dragon taht interacts with spell will be released. Overall, solid and stable.
Nithogg
I don’t know why everybody is shitting on this card, it just seems preety good to me. Nothing crazy, but really solid all around. Tbh, turn 6 it will be difficult to address both eggs without losing tempo or important spells. While this is weak to aoe removals, I think that it’s not the real problem: the problem is that it doesn’t have a deck (yet) where you could play it. Dragon Shaman doesn’t seem the deck Blizzard is really pushing into, so honestly it is likely that Nithogg won’t receive any kind of play, but it’s just that midrangy minion that does stuff and that might be part of some deck someday.
Bandersmosh
I actually don’t know what to think of this card. On one hand, it seems the usual random trash, like Shifter Zerus was, that is too random to see play. On the other hand, it is a turn 5 drop that might highroll extremely well. I feel like Bandermosh could be either the worst or the best card in Hearthstone, no in between. I think that by playing it we’ll understand if this card is any good.
Stowaway
Drawing the Bombs OMEGALUL.
The card itself is really good, would be amazing if faldorei was in standard. All I can think of right now would Waxadred rogue, which is a deck that really is becoming a possibility. Thanks to the tutor card for deathrattle which has been revealed earlier, it seems like waxadred rogue might actually beome some sort of control breaker like Undatakah paladin was when RoS came out. I don’t know if it will be good enough to see play outside of that matchup (my bet is on no), but this card really helps it.
Everytime there are minions like this, I always make the same kind of thought process you are currently doing in order to convince myself that they’re not going to be broken. Then, it turns out 0 mana 8/8 are just good, no questions asked. And if they don’t fit a certain kind of deck, they’re going to make a new one which does fit them. Yet again, for them to be worse than the Arcane Giants, each spell you cast would have to cost an average of 1,6 mana or less, which is insane. In a meta where the 6 mana 5/5 which give windfury exist, I just can’t see these boys not being broken as whole hell. However, yet again, if you end up being right, I’d love that: I’d love for these Giants to just be useless garbage, but i find that unlikely.
