Rastakhan Post Nerf Deck Lists Roundup – Top Legend Decks for the Post Rastakhan Meta

The nerfs to some powerful cards have gone live and look to shake up the Rastakhan’s Rumble meta. The cards Wild Growth, Nourish, Level Up!, Saronite Chain Gang, and Leeching Poison have all been hit. These cards largely impact decks like Odd Paladin, Shudderwock Shaman, Kingsbane Rogue, and just about everything Druid has to offer. We’ll be rounding up deck lists for this post-nerf Rastakhan meta as players figure out what is and isn’t working.

Rastakhan’s Rumble Post Nerf Deck Lists

I’ll be cataloging some of the new deck lists here. You might see some familiar faces, but even a few card difference makes a big impact on some of these decks. I’m including the current archetypes for each class that weren’t hit terribly by the nerfs.

Druid

Druid got probably the worst of the nerfs, and it didn’t even really have a top tier deck list in the meta. We’ll see how the class recovers from potentially losing one of its most classic cards in Wild Growth.

Current Archetypes

Hunter

Hunter is largely thought to be the biggest beneficiary to these nerfs. The class already has multiple strong decks at its disposal. With Odd Paladin receiving a nerf, there might not be any one to stop Rexxar.

Current Archetypes

Mage

Mage avoids the nerfs, but it remains to be seen if it’s enough to bring the class out of the mid-tier.

Current Archetypes

Paladin

Paladin took a big hit to its every powerful Odd archetype. This doesn’t mean the class is dead, it still has Even Paladin to fall back on, which was one of its stronger decks in the past that had gotten nerfed. The class just keeps flipping back and forth it seems.

Is Odd paladin not dead yet? Is Frostwolf Warlord the answer?!

Current Archetypes

Priest

The Priest class dodges the nerfs, but it isn’t in the greatest spot at the moment. Resurrect Priest actually has a good matchup against Deathrattle Hunter, so we’ll see if that alone is enough to give the class a bump.

Current Archetypes

Rogue

Rogue loses Kingsbane Rogue most likely, but there’s always the resilient Quest Rogue that could feast upon the meta once again!

Current Archetypes

Shaman

While Shaman takes a hit by likely losing Shudderwock Shaman, the class still has access to Even Shaman which was an underplayed powerful option for the class.

Current Archetypes

Warlock

The Warlock class largely dodged the nerf, although Zoo takes a hit with the nerf to Saronite. Zoo has a good matchup against Deathrattle Hunter, so it’s possible we see a return of the class board-centric deck.

Coming soon…

Current Archetypes

Warrior

Is it time for Warrior to shine again? Maybe… It’s very weak to Deathrattle Hunter, but with Kingsbane Rogue going away, there’s a chance that Odd Warrior gets a bump.

I’m at around rank 7 and want to start running a new deck to ladder up more quickly. Is beast hunter or odd rogue a better pick?

I am not a big expert, but the meta data is early for the nerf. Midrange Hunter is quite strong right now with Master’s Call but Odd Rogue is making a comeback after the nerfs. If I were you, I would solidify the Hunter game to save on dust.

I have been running Chief Inspector in any deck that can feasibly tech it and it’s worked out very well. As long as you play around the secrets until then you’re fine. Let them stockpile and one big erase = ezconcede. If you’re running hunter yourself, it probably goes without saying but Flare is gonna be your best friend this meta.
I agree, though, with both Rexar and Zul’Jin, it’s too much value. Guess we will see what shape they’re in after the next rotation, but there’ll be tons of Spellstones and Wolfos until then.

In legend it’s prieststone atm… mecha’thun, topsy turvy, dragon and clone. A couple of days ago it was hunter, now it’s priest.

That’s very strange…what rank are you at?
I’ve only faced two Hunters, a couple of Priests and like a dozen or so Mages at rank 4

Hovering around rank 3/4. The hunters are mostly secret / spell hunters

Why not just counter Hunter then ? (#easylegend)

Same experience, ~3 out of 4 are hunters. Legend rank 1000/2000 atm. I’m farming them with Mecha’thun Priest. In terms of diversity, the meta got worse after the latest balance changes.

Well the upside for me is my Even Shaman wrecks Hunter. So keep them coming.

I am glad I never crafted Kingsbane and doomerang

I crafted doomerang a while back, now it is basically useless. They nerfed the deck and did not give back much dust. Brilliant!

At least it works with poison for big creatures.

Man, I was just telling everyone that Hunter is going to be the main deck…. after this set got released it was the most run deck. The nerfs should have gone towards them but, Haters be Hating.

You are going to see some major control to counter. I am considering crafting Chief Inspector again to deal with Secret Hunter, probably time for Silence to come back with the Deathrattle as well. But two Hero cards to deal with on Hunter is brutal – both of them just have insane value! I agree that Hunter may need balancing soon – but at least two of its decks will not be viable come next year’s rotation.

I have to say, I am tired of hunters already… In last 20 games in ranks 5-legend, 17 were all sorts of hunters. That’s insane and not fun.

I actually feel we have less decks now with druid gone. I was happy Kingsbane was low tier 1 now, but of course that is gone now.

Sadly, I have to agree with you. In pre nerf meta there was much higher diversity which by itself made it much more fun experience than what we have now.

Give it time, the nerfs just hit and one of the only classes that got by untouched was hunter so everyone is going to flock towards it at first. A lot of the other classes aren’t entirely sure what to run right now and thus the influx of Hunters. But I’m fairly certain in a couple of days people will start running decks specifically built to counter hunter and the meta will become a lot more varied.

Sooo, do I get rid of level up now? I already have spell hunter but no point keeping odd now, they dumpstered the deck.

Even if it becomes a good card again, it’s a good idea to disenchant it now to get the full dust. Worst case scenario you craft it again later.

You should disenchant all of the nerfed cards, you can just craft them with the dust again if they end up being played.

I dusted everything but the Saronite Chain Gang because I still use those in various deck and Wild Growth because you just can’t.
