I really want this deck to work for me, but I can not understand how to pilot it correctly. I often wind up at 10 mana needing to draw, but I have 6 or 7 cards, which include moonfires, swipes, and removal, and one or both UIs. Im still missing a few important combo pieces at this point so I cant afford to overdraw.
Otherwise, I’m stuck at 6 or 7 mana with a spreading plague or two, a nourish and a wild growth, and moonfire and/or spellstone. I feel like I just havr yo pray to hit a good UI and nourish for Crystals. I dont want to nourish for cards because if i get UI I cant use it at 10 mana because my hand is too full, but I don’t
I don’t feel like I can just slam Malygos without combo because it will get Naturalized/Polymorphrd/Hexed/Siphoned/etc. I don’t mean to sound like I’m complaining. I just want to know what I can do differently.

To answer a few of the comments, Kobold is pretty much strictly to counter weapon removal. But since weapon removal is much less common post nerfs, I cut it for a second Arcane Tyrant. As for two UI’s, yeah you rarely play both, but getting the first one off is so important that it is absolutely correct to run two to increase your odds of drawing it. This also allows you to Nourish for mana and Branching Paths for armor much more consistently.

The OTK you usually want to go for is Malygos, destroy Twig, Faceless your Malygos, Swipe and double Moonfire for 36 damage. Having Twig at the bottom of your deck is an issue, but this deck has so much life gain/survivability that you can often still pull off the OTK versus slower decks. And vs faster decks you don’t need to OTK.

I’m not seeing it, what is the Twig combo?

Why does this deck run two copys of UI when your hand is full most of the time? I can get one copy for dire situations but two?

Powerful deck, it does indeed rely on the draws, but I like not this case.you just need to adapt your play and eventually forget about your main win condition. I am not convinced by the kobold since it is really slow, but i get that it is a back up plan.
It.is fun to play though, I’m eager for tips on how to play this out of your Malygos win condition.

maybe i was unlucky. But out of 4 games, i had malygos last card or twig in the last 3. All 4 games very close to win.
I replaced the UI with one more starfall and starfire, since I would alwas end up with UI in hand…
This game is rigged against twig malygos druid.

This deck is garbage. If twig is in the last 5 cards in your library (aka a non zero amount of the time), you just lose.

You know, bad draws happen in a card game. If you play an Aggro deck and don’t draw your early game at all, you often just lose. If you play Control Warlock and draw your Voidlords before Lackeys, you often just lose. If you play any combo deck, and combo pieces are the last cards in your deck, you often just lose.

That’s how the game works, and you’re not the only one affected. You would be surprised how many games you (or anyone, for that matter) won not because you were playing great, but because your opponent had poor draws.

I play mtg professionally, I know how variance works. There’s a difference between drawing the high parts of your curve in an aggro deck vs playing a deck with a fragile engine that is useless when drawing it late.

As the name states, someone piloted it to legend. Maybe you really play mtg professionally, maybe you waste money going to tournaments so you can tell yourself that. If you think this deck is garbage, you simply don’t have the skill to play it. Have fun netdecking, but I’m personally happy to see a creative combo deck do well.

You need to build up a second avenue of win conditions. Copy your opponent’s WC. Delay your Lich King to a turn where they have to use either very much removal or can’t remove him at all.

I’m on game 9 of the same problem, i’ve won 2 just by random burn spells. Starting to seem like a bug.

Its for repeating the destruction of the weapon, so you can continue to refresh 10 mana.

Probably for recovering the weapon if it gets destroyed by ooze as you need it for the combo

You absolutely need the Twig for your Malygos combo, so if it gets destroyed by Ooze/Harrison, you’re out of luck. Kobold is there to get it again for another attempt.

Yeah that’s why it’s a one-of. You want to control, then play a Malygos/Faceless combo whenever you can pull off your Twig combo.

I find Ultimate Infestation dead in hand most of the time since deck has crazy draw already. No idea what to replace them with..

Is Kobold just for a destroyed Twig? Thanks
