Nazmani to drop on 3 with Insight or Animate Dead are the best cases. Creation Protocol is fine, but you generally want that to grab Velen if you don't draw him early enough on the combo turn for discounts, or to find Clergy/Nazmani. Thrive in the Shadows is probably the best card generally for early game, letting you pick a draw based on your opening, but I wouldn't usually keep it unless you already have other good pieces. Similarly Crimson Clergy isn't a keep without other good combo pieces.
Play Prophet Velen, Vivid Nightmare, Embrace The Shadow, and double Purifying Breath for 40 damage, plus any cheap healing for extra burst on top. The gameplan for the deck is to use Nazmani Bloodweaver and Crimson Clergy with healing and draw spells to draw your deck and reduce the cost of the combo to (0).
