Mulligans
Hi all, welcome to my first deck guide. This is a N’Zoth Midrange Hunter deck I’ve been playing since Gadgetzan came out, and in 16 games played with this deck, I have a record of 14 wins and 2 losses. I’ve always hovered around as a rank 18 player, but this deck has allowed me to climb all the way up to rank 14 with ease. During the current meta of Pirate decks, Dragon Priest, and Renolock everywhere, I decided to change things up a bit.
This Hunter deck is for those players who can’t spend coins or money on adventures, like myself. In my experience with this deck, I’ve discovered that it’s one of the most flexible and forgiving decks I’ve played. Given the ability with 2x tracking, you can refuel the fire if your starting hand is good enough to go aggro, as well as play it slower having big tempo swings with cards like Call of the Wild, Ragnaros, and N’Zoth if your opening is not as strong. I’ve found that one of the most impactful cards in this deck is actually the flexibility of 2x Hunter’s Mark, combined with Unleash the Hounds, Arcane Shot, or any control type damage dealing cards in between. I have very rarely had to play N’Zoth for huge swings with this deck, usually finishing opponents before having an opportunity to play it. There are an infinite number of ways to deal large amounts of burst damage with this deck, as having a Savannah Highmane or Infested Wolf on board to go face with Kill Command, Arcane Shot, Eaglehorn Bow, etc. results in being able to finish off opponents with ease when they play too passively. Another great thing about this deck is the flexibility of switching out cards like Ragnaros and Call of the Wild against aggro, and replacing them with cards like Acidic Swamp Ooze or 2nd deadly shot, even a Power/Multi-shot.
To finish off I’ll talk briefly about the decks I’ve struggle against while playing with this deck. This deck has a very tough time against Jade and Pirate decks. It cannot deal with the consistent, late game, large threat board presence from Jade decks and fast, hard hitting damage from Pirate decks. If you don’t get a strong enough hand with Fiery Bat, Unleash the Hounds, and Explosive/Freezing Trap, you could be in big trouble.
Overall this is easily one of the most fun decks I’ve ever played, and I love the Hunter class now because of it, even if it’s not that high in the metagame right now. Feel free to try this deck out and switch up a few cards, let me know how your experiments go!
