Mulligans

General Mulligans

Weapons and damage cards like Explosive Trap and Powershot are solid choices for mulligan to help eliminate early threats while waiting to summon some big minions. Barnes is a solid choice if he can pull a high value minion like Kel'thuzad or The Lich King.

Here is the deck that I used to defeat all 8 rounds in the Kobolds & Catacombs dungeon run. My deck had 2x Barnes and 3x The Lich King, but I had to fill in the bottom with 2x Molten Giants instead as the deckbuilder does not allow more than 1 of each Legendary. For the gifts I chose:

Cloak of Invisibility: give all my minions permanent stealth

Potion of Vitality: double my hero’s total health

Greedy Pickaxe: 2-cost 3/2 weapon, After your hero attacks, gain an empty Mana Crystal.

Dr. Boom’s Boombox: Summon 7 ‘Boom Bots’.

Cloak of Invisibility has been the key to victory for both my hunter and mage 8/8 runs. Potion of Vitality mixes in well with this as it allows you to outpace your opponent when  you’re both going face. In the final round with hunter, the keys to victory were The Lich King and Maexxna. Vustrasz, The Ancient was the final boss. In the early rounds I used Powershot and weapons to clear the smaller summoned minions. Later Maexxna was able to trade 2-for-1, taking out both Ysera and the Emerald Drake she summoned, giving me time to get 2 Lich Kings on the board. Any 2-3 big minions should be enough to outpace the final boss, but the added value of the death knight cards made it that much easier.
