Seeping Oozeling Card Review

Another expensive, Deathrattle-oriented Hunter card! Despite being slow, provided that you have enough high quality Deathrattles, this card is actually very decent. Even something as small as Kindly Grandmother‘s effect (for Turn 6 anyway) can give you something to work with and larger, more impactful abilities are icing on top of the cake. Deathrattles tend to be some sort of stickiness for the most part, although other times they can be pure value bombs that if you are lucky enough to hit, will completely turn the game around, Kathrena Winterwisp is an excellent example, as well as Sylvanas Windrunner in Wild. You can easily avoid the less impactful abilities by simply not running those cards in your deck.

Yet despite those redeeming factors, at the end of the day this is still an undercosted minion and it’s going to be very hard to both guarantee it has great value and make it to that point in the game as a Hunter. Still, it’s a very interesting deckbuilding challenge, which seems to be a common theme for many cards in K&C. The fact that it’s also not a beast can help out a lot with this new Hunter archetype that seems to be peeking from behind the curtain.

For this card to be good you need to build around it which is strange considering it’s just a rare with inconsistency a risk. Good deathrattles would be: Kathrena, Carniverous Cube, rat pack, arfus, and the best could be Seargant Sally. A 6 mana 5/4 deal 5 damage when this dies. You have to run sally, but I’m sure someone could make it work.

Never thought about Sally it makes this card a much better Bloat Bat and its perfect for control

People seem to forget that “Worse Savannah Highmane” is still really good. I think it’s pretty realistic to run this in a deck with just Highmanes. Putting four Highmanes in your deck seems solid to me, but it on its own isn’t going to be enough to pull hunter out of its rut. While I want the Deathrattle Hunter to be a thing and while I think this card is good, I don’t think good is good enough realistically. We’ll have to see if this Deathrattle package will ever be enough to work, but I’m willing to give it an extra optimism point, especially because I personally really like Deathrattle Hunter.

In arena, this card is usually going to be bad, and sometimes it’ll be decent to insane, which isn’t going to be enough to make this card useable, unfortunately.

    Standard: 2/5
    Arena: 1/5

    WTF BLIZZARD
do you never think when making cards?
this is LITERALLY highmane but 5x worse, and almost no hunter decks run 2 highmanes.

      I think you’re overreacting a little bit
I mean it doesn’t have to copy Highmane it can copy Loot hoarder for that desperate card draw, Bloat Bat for the AOE and Kathrena to recruit a big beast (possibly pull out a highmane?)

I’m not sure I see the point… same cost as Highmane with worse stats – and considering how good Highmane’s deathrattle is the odds on you getting a better deathrattle to warrant the -1/-1 statline is pretty slim.

… and because the card doesn’t have a natural deathrattle it wouldn’t even come back with N’Zoth; granted that could be a good thing in Wild if you don’t want to pollute your pool of dead deathrattles like Highmane, Sylvanarse or Sludge Belcher.

Oddly the deck this would fit best in might be Wild Jade Deathrattle Rogue as like an extra Unearthed Raptor.

If the text had read something like “Battlecry: Discover a deathrattle from your deck and gain it” then it _might_ have been playable – stick it in a deck with Arfus or Sergeant Sally for lulz, Devilsaur Egg or maybe Skelemancer at a push – but with it being a Hunter card that sits at the same cost as Savannah Highmane with a random deathrattle effect … dubious.

if this was a 5mana card it would see alot of play.
Now that it is 6 mana, people have to push Ez big EZ hunter archetype in order to use this card which is an extremely unfun deck type for at least one of the players every match.

Best case is a 5/4 Carine, worst that Cairne. So even in the best outcome is bad. 1/5.

Wrong best outcome is egg deathrattle 6 mana 5/4 that summons a 5/5 is better than Highmane (If you can pull it off)

Bad card, bad stats, bad effect.

Not good at all, Hunter doesn’t need more big things to become a viable control class.
It need healing, board clears, removal, card draw.
This won’t do any of that regularly, so it isn’t good for that type of hunter.
The current hunter has no place for this, at turn 6 they want to end the game.

And so what if this hits a highmane? you just paid 6 mana for a 5/4 highmane. Just run the 6/5 version. It’s also a beast.

cairne and kathrena are probably the best standard targets. though dipping into wild you get to run things like sylvanas and sneed. not sure about it yet.

Stats look horrible, but honestly it seems like Blizzard is pushing a “Not so Beast” Hunter. With the new secrets that are good, Katherna Winterwisp, so you would want to ONLY play a Big Beasts. This card could copy a strong death rattle and because of this could fit in this deck (even thought the stats suck) . Also because it is not a beast u can’t pull it when u play Katherna Winterwisp. But this card could be replaced by Carnivorous Cube (one manna lower 4/6) making it useless. It all depends on the hunter’s weapon I think.

      November 21, 2017 at 8:46 pm

The problem with cube is it loses you lot’s of tempo in exchange for value, Because hunter has so little good removal, hunter’s tempo is crucial and the cube likely would just end up leading to the hunter’s death rather than giving them the huge value storm your thinking of.

It can copy Kathrena’s deathrattle effect and possibly cheat out a big beast on turn 6-7 with Play Dead
but you’ll need more than one deathrattle card in your deck just in case you draw Kathrena early rendering this card useless (however this will lower the chances of copying Kathrena’s deathrattle so either way its a hit and miss)

That’s exactly what I was thinking! Have some ultrasaurs (10/10 best card in the game) out as early as 6 or seven! Maybe this will lead to some kind of big hunter!
You could also have crushing walls/call of the wild with the new minions that summons a minion with cost equal to the cost of a spell in your deck as another cheating way!

This card is awful. Im surprised so many people rated it 5. It doesnt even help to push up a High Control Hunter Deck.
    Poor Stats
    High Price
    Random Effect
Hunter already has Savanna a 6 6/5 with a good DR

Still don’t understand why people want a control hunter… meh…

Clearly you haven’t tried playing a slow value centred hunter. I have made it happen quite a few times but the class lacks important control tools so they are forced to either play one way or just be inferior. As a Hunter main I like having more cards that allow me to create fun and unique decks while keeping a consistent winrate.

100% agree. But sadly everyone just wants to play op decks and not meme-decks or experimental decks so cards like this have no use most of the time. Welp Atleast the artwork is amazing :p

I love making meme decks and although I see some potential in this card it is at an awkward manacost. That is my main complaint with the card, it is hard to fit the card into certain decks and it doesn’t seem powerful enough to justify it’s own. But we will have to see what this expansion brings. I have been playing a lot of Beast-less Hunter so maybe this could be a good include.

From how this is worded, I can assume that NEITHER you NOR your opponent knows exactly what Deathrattle you picked up (well, unless you only have one Deathrattle in your deck). Obviously you could run this in your Sylvanas/Highmane/Cairne N’Zoth deck, in which it will see a good amount of play (albeit not being summoned from N’Zoth due to wording).

This could make for some fun Majordomu memes, bluffing for maybe a Sylvanas or Highmane then unleashing a bunch of “DIE, INSECT” at your opponent’s face through Play Dead and Feign Death resets getting a tick or two off Emperor Thaurissan on Maiden of the Lake and your Deathrattle triggers. Will it be competitive? Heck no. But fun, definitely.

    • MarmotMurloc
      November 21, 2017 at 8:41 pm

It shows you the card who’s deathrattle it copies! At least in the release video! Not sure it shows your opponent though, so memeing could still work with this quite often!

If you over on a card, it tells you the effect of the deathrattle.

Not as great as everyone thinks. At best it hit high mane making it poor stat version of it. Doesn’t fit in the 6 mana slot and N’Zoth won’t pull it

    • DyingHawk
      November 21, 2017 at 8:43 pm

At best hits Highmane? Abominable Bowman, Kathreena, Rat pack, bloatbat, and skelemancer are all better in my opinion. It provides huge value and probably will be a one of in big hunter if that ends up being a deck.

      • SwoleLord
        November 22, 2017 at 12:08 am

That’s if it does is the problem and most of those aren’t worth the loss of tempo

        • Tricksterking
          November 22, 2017 at 6:18 pm

Ok. I have been thinking over this card a lot and the more I consider it, the better it seems. Obviously you wouldn’t run this + Highmane. Anyone who does is a complete idiot but there are plenty of strong deathrattles most people aren’t even considering when they look at this card which make it really good, stuff like Rat Pack, Arfus and the new Hunter Legendary are INSANE to get on this card. Also the fact that you can’t get it back with N’Zoth is a good thing in some cases because I would rather get back strong cards like Bowman, Arfus, etc. Then get back this card and it not being a beast makes Bowman better. The card may be bad at first glance but trust me, there are situations and decks for it, I will be trying it out when the expansion hits. This might just be a sleeper card.
