Mulligans
This deck is really quite successful in the current Meta, being able to win most games against aggro (Damn Pirates), while also having some major late fire power that almost guarantees wins over Renolock and Golem Decks.
Against aggro divert damage while trying to draw Reno (obviously). I like to play Kabal Lackey early into any secret available. dont be afriad to coin into cabal courier or kazakus. Get your Ice Block Down. Play counterspell or Spell Bender into Doomsayer. Frost Bolt those damn Small-Time Buccanneers. Kabal Chemist gives some really handy spells on turn 4. Kazakus it is vital IMO to get deal 4 damage against all minions against and either summon 2 minions, gain 7 armor, summon a 5/5 demon or deal 5 damage. Use sheep/fireball or flamwreathed faceless/frothing beserkers. Flamestrike is really handy to play as soon as you Reno. As soon as you draw reno breath a sigh of relief as you will most likely have those cheezy pirates conceding as soon as you heal to 30.
This deck comes into its own against control decks (excpet against dragon) as it is really full of threats which if not taken care of just steam roll oppponents. Play the same way you would against aggro early, the only exceptions being i like to coin into spellslinger turn 2 to try win board control. Acolyte of Pain is handy early as you want to really start filling your hand. Kazakus’s spell should either be the standard 5 cost deal 4 damage and summon 2 minions that have died, or go hard and go for 10 cost 6 damage to all minions summon 3. Kabal crystal runner is one of my favourite cards, playing your ice block, effigy, spellbender etc early usually means turn 5 you can use another secret into the runner, with effigy this is a really strong combo. You can Emporer you spells low and bring out your Archmage (i would advise to have counterspell or spellbender up before doing so) to have your opponent concedeing. Its really funny how many players dump their swamp ooze early aginst mage, only to play Medivh. If there isn’t really a strong board presence have no hesitation using Medivh which allows you to clear with Blizzards, Flamestrikes and Fireballs while gaining board control. Now the superstar of this deck other than Reno is really Inkmaster Solia, She can be used to play a 10 cost kazakus and just flood the board with massive units or if not i like to wait until i have lethal damage with Pyroblast, but can be used to put a 5/5 on board then clear with a flamestrike, if low on cards its board presence with card draw. Being a 7 cost with an effigy up she resummons some very strong minions.
Play smart, know your deck and you should have lots of fun in a time where its really quite a yawn fest playing ladder.
