Mulligans

General Mulligans

Oaken summons is a huge value card towards your quest meaning that if you pull cursed disable it quickly forwards you to the quest.

Twig of the World Tree can lead to some huge tempo plays when you gain the 10 mana (full mana not empty) but it takes 5 turns to activate so the quicker you can put it out the better. Especially if it allows you to ramp.

Finally your win condition is your quest so not mulliganing that is important.

Aggro Mulligans

This is a situation where you might want to mully away your quest because losing that 1 card could prove fatal.

Wrath is a great way to deal with big low cost threats like scavenging hyena. Gnash is a good form of removal plus a way to upgrade your spellstone if its also in your hand. Spellstone is great at dealing with threats and even mid game threats to allow you to get to a later turn for your late game to make a difference. Innervate helps get the threats out of board clears out faster. Oaken heals you, buffs your spellstone, and puts a threat on the field. Finally swipe is just a great board clear.

Midrange Mulligans

Having a threat against a mid range deck is important and completing your quest before they can out tempo you is important.

Having good removal like jasper is great to deal with important midrange threats and being able to ramp up to be able to play your late game is good.

Combo Mulligans

This matchup will be all about speed, how fast you can complete your quest and how fast they can get their combo ready. So being able to complete your quest faster than they can get ready will be great.

Twig helps to put big threats out there before they can kill you with the huge ramp. Also speeding up how fast you can put out big threats will be great.

One note, don't put all your eggs in one basket because if you get board cleared many times or stuck in a freezing loop by a exodia mage will anger you and result in a loss. So don't overcommit.

Control Mulligans

Ixlid is a great way to gain far greater value from your cards and especially if you get some free 8 drops you can duplicate your lich kings by paying the 5 mana. Getting this card in your hand is important if your tempo is to win.

Twig gains a ton of value and control is always about the value game.

Oaken (as you can tell by now is my favorite card) can complete your quest before your opponent gets too much tempo.

Finally your quest is your win condition so if you know for sure you are up against a control DON'T MULLIGAN

This was an idea I had regarding the cards these last 3 expansions (Journey to Un’Goro, Knights of the Frozen Throne, and Kobolds and Catacombs) released. They each included cards types that overlapped in between classes. These were legendary quests, death knights, legendary weapons, and spellstones. These were deck defining cards so of course I looked for a way to incorporate all of these into one deck and this is what I came up with. The goal of this deck is to complete the quest and out tempo your opponent with late game cards.

Oaken summons was a controversial card I included but with its armor gain to upgrade jasper spellstone and its ability to recruit one of the 5 attack 4 drops like cursed disciple who gives you 2 ticks towards you quest or Hoarding dragon to increase tempo and make Oaken summons more consistent.

Most legendaries are there because they give the most value but you don’t need them in order to make this deck great, you just need to sub them for some other late game card.

I will be releasing more decks with these same requirements of legendary weapon, quest, deathknight, and spellstone.
