Top Standard & Wild Legend Decks – Darkmoon Faire Week 4 – December 2020

It’s been almost a month since Darkmoon Faire has launched – while the main focus has been on the Battle Pass thing, players didn’t talk enough about the expansion. Right now, the general consensus is that while the theme is cool, the balance isn’t there. Players are sick of facing the same few decks all the time, even more so if they’re so fast like Aggro Demon Hunter. Many feel that they can’t actually play the deck, because everything can be decided during the first few turns.

The meta… has actually changed a bit. Most of the previous top decks are still strong, but one more contender has risen to the fight – Miracle Rogue, especially the Combo variant, which is completely new. Whirlkick Master has actually started seeing play for the first time since its release, and Prize Plunderer turned out to be a really good board control tool. There’s still a lot of optimization to be made, and maybe Secret version is better after all, but I think that Miracle Rogue already became Tier 1, especially at higher ranks. If a balance update gets released and they don’t target it while nerfing other decks, we might see it rise to the top.

The truth is that we should already have a balance update by now. I think that originally it was meant to land last week, but they didn’t want to do anything while the Battle Pass outrage was still going. Then, this week, they again couldn’t release it, because we’ve got World Championship (it’s not a good idea to re-balance a game just before such a big tournament). But don’t worry – that should be fixed soon. We already know that there’s a big patch coming on Tuesday (December 15th), because that’s when we’re getting changes to rewards track + Battlegrounds content update, which was recently teased. I imagine that it’s the best chance to also throw in some Constructed balance updates, possibly something for Duels too. So hopefully we’ll see a major shift in the meta starting next week. And even if it won’t change it enough, remember that there’s a mini-set coming relatively soon. We don’t know the exact date, but if they want to land in the middle of expansion, it should launch in a month or so.
