This deck is listed under “fun” and says it’s experimental. Not every deck is meant to be used for climbing. Not sure what your second sentence is even referring to.

Whenever the official Blizzard post that is local to your area says the event started should be the correct time. I would double check that to see if you got an entry today.

There’s no way to check as far as I know, just do a daily quest each day until the 14th and you should be entered 14 times.

You just have to complete a daily quest for a single entry. It runs for 14 days, so you can get 14 entries if you complete a quest each day.
