Top Standard Legend Decks From Ashes of Outland – Week 2 – April 2020

And here we are. The new expansion has dropped almost 2 weeks ago. We’ve already seen one balance update and a second one is coming early next week (so most likely in 1-2 days). On top of that, a new season of Grandmasters have started. Things are looking quite interesting.

Sadly, the meta for the last week or so has been ~50% Demon Hunter/Warlock. Tempo Demon Hunter and Galakrond Warlock have completely dominated the ladder. Still, it’s not like other decks are completely useless. Spell Druid, Galakrond/Highlander Rogue, Highlander Mage, Dragon/Highlander Hunter etc. are all solid. We’ve also got a bunch of off-meta builds. It’s just that facing the same two matchups all the time is a bit boring. Luckily, things might get better after the upcoming nerf patch. DH will not be killed, it will still likely be very strong, but it will be tuned down a bit. Similarly, Galakrond Warlock will no longer be such a good counter for the deck, not to mention the nerf of Bad Luck Albatross should make Higlander decks more consistent. All in all, we’ll see how everything develops, but things are looking pretty interesting going forward.

And one more thing I’m happy about is that Blizzard is no longer scared about doing quick nerfs. I’m pretty sure that if DH dominates after the patch, it will get hit again. Which would really showcase how absolutely broken the class was at the beginning.
