How To Get Gift of Elune Card Back – Stormwind Secret “???” Achievement Guide – Full Solution

Remember the Mysteries of Phoenix Card Back introduced last expansion? It took players a while to discover its Secrets and learn how to obtain it. If you haven’t heard about it – well, let’s just say that it was INCREDIBLY difficult and made players follow a series of obscure puzzles with no obvious solutions.

And what do you know – another one was just released in the latest patch! This time the card back is called “Gift of Elune” and it asks players to “solve the mysteries of Stormwind”. We also have a secret “???” achievement under Stormwind gameplay section, with “Burn my sight.” as a clue.

All of the parts have to be finished against Innkeeper – start a practice match with the correct deck & class against it! In order to start a match against Innkeeper, pick “Game Modes”, “Solo Adventures”, “Practice” and “Normal”. I recommend playing against Priest, since his deck is slow, but honestly, none of them should be a big problem.

All images and solutions were based on the amazing community effort, mostly from the WoW Secret Finding Discord server. You can join them here!

Update: If you prefer a guide in video form, Old Guardian has just recorded his. Check it out here:

Puzzle #1

Your deck needs to contain Oracle of Elune and Moonfire, the rest of your build is irrelevant (preferably you want to focus on card draw so you can get your puzzle pieces more consistently). Once you draw both pieces, play Oracle of Elune and use Moonfire on her. Pass the turn without doing anything else, then the puzzle should start.

Here’s an example deck you can use, you can definitely make a stronger one, but I’ve only used free cards so everyone can attempt it. Oracle of Elune is the only exception because you need her for the puzzle, but you can theoretically try to Discover her through cards like Resizing Pouch or Raven Idol. Here’s the deck:

After you do the necessary steps above, here’s how the puzzle looks like:

The puzzle is pretty similar to the maze from Barrens puzzle, but it’s sadly even longer. There are 231 steps in total, and if you mess up, you have to start over (in certain situations you can still backtrack, but unless you’re using a map and alter the path, you’re done for – it’s usually just easier to restart).

The minion you see on your side of the board represents you going through the maze. If you attack a portal in front of you – you go forward. The portal on the left or right of the minion you can attack with – you go left or right. Hero Power is a 180 degrees turn. Each portal can be passed through X times, where X is its health. Portals with 1 health can’t be passed through at all. In order to finish the maze, you need to get to the end while setting all portals on the entire map to 1 health (so e.g. if a portal has 4 health, you need to pass through it a total of 3 times). With that knowledge, all you need right now is a map, right? Right… Here it is, thanks to reddit user /u/MstrPoptart (source):

However, as you can see, tracking through that map might be quite challenging. That’s why here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it (or, to be more precise, one of the ways – there are a couple of ways you can go through that maze). I put it in a spoiler tag because it’s so long.

What I recommend doing is copying it over to notepad or something similar and just going through it a few steps at a time (I made a break every five steps), then removing the steps you already finished so you won’t get confused and miss where you were. Like I’ve said, one mistake and I recommend just repeating it.

If the step says “Front”, you need to attack the portal in front of you (again, “you” is the minion that you can attack with). Left – portal on your left. Right – portal on your right. Hero Power – well, Hero Power.

Puzzle #2, Part 1

Your deck needs to contain Ysera the Dreamer and Lunar Eclipse, the rest of your build is irrelevant (preferably you want to focus on card draw so you can get your puzzle pieces more consistently). Once you draw both pieces, play Ysera the Dreamer, then use Lunar Eclipse on her. It doesn’t need to be done in a single turn, you can play Ysera one turn and then Lunar Eclipse next turn. But if you add cards like Innervate or Lightning Bloom you can easily do it on the same turn. Anyway, after you play Lunar Eclipse, pass the turn and your puzzle should start.

Here’s an example deck you can use, you can definitely make a stronger one, but I’ve only used free cards so everyone can attempt it. Here it is:

After you do the necessary steps above, here’s how the puzzle might look like:

And here we get to the complex part. The puzzle will look different for everyone (technically it can repeat for some people, but my point is that yours will most likely NOT look exactly like the one above). The puzzle also resets and changes every 12 hours, so better do it in one sitting before it changes.

Your goal here is to play cards from your hand on the 0/1 “?” minion in the middle of your board. In the right order, of course. The cards in your hand represent different minion types, in this order:

1 – Demons
2 – Mechs
3 – Elementals
4 – Beasts
5 – Pirates
6 – Dragons
7 – Quilboars
8 – Totems
9 – All (Amalgams)
0 – Murlocs (technically it’s the 10th card, but for the sake of the code it’s 0)

Now, there’s a hard and an easy way to do it. The hard way is counting everything yourself, the easy way is using a Google Docs spreadsheet prepared by the folks at Discord that will calculate everything for you. I’ll post a harder way below, but I really do recommend the spreadsheet, it leaves less room for error.

  • Open This Spreadsheet
  • Make your own copy of it (File -> Create Own Copy) or just save it to your desktop. This part is necessary so you can edit it.
  • Enter the attack and health of all the opponent’s minions under Part 1. Do the same thing for tribes (use corresponding numbers and not tribe names).
  • Two of the minions on your board (on the left and right of “?”) are exact copies of the ones on your opponent’s board. Enter their positions on your opponent’s board under Part 2.
  • Now Part 3 should be filled correctly. You need to play cards from your hand in that order targeting your middle (?) minion. E.g. if it’s Mechs, All, Murlocs, Demons, then you need to play 2nd, 9th, 10th, and 1st card from your hand.
  • If you fail, a ??? card will appear on the left. It means that you can no longer continue and you have to restart the puzzle.
  • If you keep failing, double-check all the data and make sure that you play the correct cards in the correct order.

And if you want to do it the hard way and calculate everything yourself, you will find the solution below. Again, the solution was provided by people from WoW Secret Finding Discord – a massive shoutout to them!

  • The minions to the left and right of your “?” minion are also on the opponent’s side of the board.
  • For this stage, the relevant minions are those two and all enemy minions in-between them. Ignore the other minions for this step.
  • Add the values of the tribes for all those relevant minions together. E.g. if the tribes are [Dragon (left minion), Dragon, Murloc, Totem, Pirate (right minion)], you add 6 + 6 + 0 + 8 + 5 = 25.
  • Take the last digit of that number and play the corresponding card on the ??? minion. In our example, we had 25, the last digit is 5, so we play card 5 (Pirates).
  • Then, add up the health of all the relevant minions. E.g. 94 + 472 + 329 + 232 + 313 = 1440.
  • Take the last three digits of that and play the corresponding cards on the ??? minion, starting from the back. E.g. We had 1440, the last three digits are 440, so we play card 0 (Murlocs), card 4 (Beasts), card 4 (Beasts).
  • Repeat the same thing for the attack: Sum up all relevant minion’s attack (e.g. 3363), take the last three digits (363), play corresponding cards in reverse order (Elemental, Dragon, Elemental).
  • If you did it correctly, your board will change to Chronobreaker, ???, Buccaneer. If you did it wrong, your minions will change to others on the opponent’s board and you’ll have to start this stage again.

Puzzle #2, Part 2

Finally, it’s the last part! Here, you no longer need to create any decks, because you will be taken to it right after finishing Part 1 of the second puzzle. If you wish, you can continue using the spreadsheet I’ve linked above, but this part is the same for everyone, so no further calculations are needed (so the solution posted below is just as good).

Just like last time, you need to use cards from your hand on your middle “?” minion, in the right order. There are five “codes” you need to input. Here are the codes:

  1. Your board should start as 703/319 Dragon and 260/820 Pirate. The code you need to input is: 2913997 (Mechs, All, Demons, Elementals, All, All, Quilboars).
  2. Your board should turn into 880/663 Amalgam and 976/366 Mech. The code you need to input is: 7605218 (Quilboars, Dragons, Murlocs, Pirates, Mechs, Demons, Totems).
  3. Your board should turn into 431/499 Demon and 354/584 Pirate. The code you need to input is: 2372358 (Mechs, Elementals, Quilboars, Mechs, Elementals, Pirates, Totems).
  4. Your board should turn into 384/988 Elemental and 648/110 Quilboar. The code you need to input is: 6190849 (Dragons, Demons, All, Murlocs, Totems, Beasts, All).
  5. Your board should turn into 787/28 Pirate and 647/304 Amalgam. The code you need to input is: 8747787 (Totems, Quilboars, Beasts, Quilboars, Quilboars, Totems, Quilboars).
  6. Congratulations! The puzzle is finished!

Originally, this puzzle was meant to be much more difficult – players from all around the world would need to work together to solve it by creating a massive chain of boards from Part 1 of the second puzzle. The boards would overlap and create a long sequence (nearly 300,000 minions in total) that would need to be fully input into one source and, based on that, the solution would have been found (it was more complicated than that, but that’s the gist of it). However, believe it or not, Chinese players have found the right input codes in the game’s logs. It would probably take weeks if not months to solve if not for that. While we got “lucky” this time, normally it would be impossible to do so quickly. The next puzzle we get (assuming we get more in the future) might be way, way harder.

Anyway, that’s all! If you got all the way here, you can now claim your achievement and enjoy your new, shiny card back!

So i got to the spread sheet part, lunar eclipsed ysera and its popping up completely different minion and such. And the codes work but even in that order it doesnt complete the achievement or give me the card back. 🙁

First part of puzzle 2 is different for everyone – you need to carefully enter all the minions stats, types and positions into the spreadsheet and you’ll get your own “code”. If you’re doing that and it doesn’t work, then double check everything, even writing one number incorrectly will give you a wrong code.

Brilliant! I used some easy way to generate some epic card I was missing for the previous barrens puzzles and wanted to do it again for the oracle, but for some reason I couldn’t think of resizing pouch. Now to roll the dice for a bit.
