Deck Import

Mulligans

Hey!

I’m a relatively casual player (time restrictions) who gets to around rank 5-10 each month. I love trying to make a deck that is totally new to the meta, but could actually be viable.

I was lucky enough to be featured on the community decks last week (High Fibre Shaman deck), which was pretty sweet (thnx hstd!!!). So I figured I’d take a shot (very punnnnny) at posting my patron hunter deck.

The title… I figured if you got a bunch of drunk patrons and took them hunting, what would happen… Dick Cheney popped in to my mind and voila (site wouldn’t let me put Dick…

DECK DISCUSSION and CARD CHOICE/INTERACTIONS:

The main idea of the control side of the deck is that you have many pinging aoe effects mostly to control the board early game, but also do well with cards likeAOP for draw, and Patron n’ Gahz’rilla as your threats. There is also a suite of spells, so a late game lock and load can go a long way.

Pingers: Explosive Trap, Wild Pyro, Unstable Ghoul, Dreadscale, Powershot and Unleash the hounds(kinda…). These cards are all designed to chip away at your opponents board and give you space for your later game. I’ve always found that control hunter decks die to a decently full board, so the goal is to avoid this early on, as you have the tools to deal with late threats

Combos:

– Grim Patron with any self pinger (wild pyro is best with a hunter’s mark – remove a big threat and have a solid board).

– Gahz’rilla with self pingers (or a fireblast from Sir Finley)

– AOP with self pingers for draw, play it like you would with control warrior, you need to get more than one draw out of it.

– Lock n Load with spells (obvi)

Big Threat Removal:

– Late game can be dealt with through Pyro/Mark, BGH, Deadly Shot. You always want to save your Pyros for later unless absolutely needed to clear an early board.

Use of spells:

– Ideally you want to save your hunter’s Marks and low cost spells (tracking and arcane shot and quick shot) to help actiavte Pyro’s and/or Lock n load in the later game, but if they need to be used early, go for it.

I haven’t tested this tons yet, but would love some recommendations…

I see the deck as changeable in the following ways:

– remove lock n load component and go heavier control with sludge blecher

– remove traps and mad scientist to add more spells

Thanks!
