Mulligans
General Mulligans
First set of Mulligans: Innervate, Wild Growth, Jade Blossom, and Astral Communion. If you're opening hand is Astral + any of these others, keep. Otherwise mulligan for Innervate, Wild Growth, Astral, Jade Blossom, Mire Keeper. This is for control match-ups early. If you can't tell by the class, what your enemies deck is likely going to be (at your ranking)... you're out of luck.
Against aggro match ups if you are going first, Living Roots is not a bad keep. Pop out 2 1/1 saplings and kill off the opening 2 pirates in a warrior deck, or get ready to start hero powering till you get ramp and combine it with the spell damage or saplings to clear some jade golems.
Put this together when fiddling with the idea of 3 popular decks in the current meta. Reno doesn’t find it’s way into many high ranking druid decks because there are too many 2-of’s to run in Druid. But I found a decent way to slide him in while also getting some Jade Action… Shoutout to Day9 who’s inspired me to keep deck building despite no prior card game experience. His stream has helped me really enjoy the virtual card game genre and content kept me entertained for upwards of 7 years!
As far as Brann Bronzebeard, and Jade Spirit, both these cards are reasonable to exchange for some of the less common cards I’ve thrown in here. I’ve been experimenting and Brann doesn’t have as much synergy unless I also have Jade Spirit, which moves the curve too far away from “Ramp” and makes Y’shaarj less consistent, and some of the other battle cry minions a little strange (Master Jouster, Reno, etc.)
Another small note: Careful of Jade Idol ruining your Reno…
Tailor the deck to the meta and have fun 🙂
