Mulligans

Remember the good old days of Mech Mage? The perfect curve, the tempo, the damage, and the synergy. Well Mech Mage has been all but reborn in the form of elementals. This deck tends to play like that of the old Mech Mage archetype with enough Elemental synergy and enough spells combined with Archmage Antonidas , can be enough to finish off your opponent.

Spells such as Primordial Glyph and cards like Shimmering Tempest and Babbling Book could give you enough firepower to win the game when combined with Antonidas.

The most important part of the deck is the curve and the synergy. The curve of this deck has a high curve at 2 cost cards with enough minions and spells to play with turn 1 cards such as Mana Wyrm that can combo with those turn 2 cards. Mana Wyrm is a big card to have on turn with the great 1/3 body, people could say it is the new Tunnel Trogg. In the late game is where the elemental synergy and the cards can really come into play with getting more elementals from Servant of Kalimos and from getting Flame Geyser from Steam Surger, which is also a good play with playing an elemental on turn 3 such as Igneous Elemental.

There is enough card draw in the deck with Arcane Intellect and Acolyte of Pain. A good finisher for the late game is none other than Bloodmage Thalnos who will gladly give you that extra spell damage and card draw if you need it.

Match-Ups:

So due to it being the first day of the new meta, I cannot really go into detail on some certain match-ups besides the basic ones that will be around for another year.

Jade Druid

Jade Druid may be a hard match for this deck, especially if you start on the wrong foot. You need to mulligan for Mana Wyrm, Babbling Book, Shimmering Tempest, and Pyros. The goal is to build the board and force them to remove early and do enough damage to their face before they get their Jades up to 6. After their jades have reached 6, you need to go nothing but face and keep track of whether or not they have used their Feral Rage or not. That 8 armor could lose you the game. Archmage Antonidas should only be used on a turn where you have lethal on the next turn in hand and if you can combo spells with him on that turn, which there are plenty of spells in this deck to combo with him and some spells that may come from Babbling Book, Shimmering Tempest, Steam Surger, and Primordial Glyph.

Hunter

I am predicting Hunter is going to be seen a lot now with their new cards and lots of early game. Your goal is to build the board and clear their board as much as you can without losing your minions. Face is the place when it comes to around turn 4 or 5. Tol'vir Stoneshaper should be a great card for this match up blocking their minions from doing a good amount of damage to your face. Some cards may have to be substituted for this match-up if it becomes too common with cards like Arcane Explosion and Twilight Flamecaller

Shaman

Shaman is going to be a present match-up for the next year with the class barley losing anything that will hurt them too much. With Jade Shaman, you want to build the board quickly with Mana Wyrm and any other 1-2 cost minions. Their board matters more than their face in the early game, so try to take out what they put out without using Frostbolt too much. Be aware of their spells and the damage of each with spell damage totem with cards like Jade LightningLightning StormMaelstrom Portal, and the new spell Tidal Surge. Keep up with their other spells like Hex and some may even run Devolve

Pirate Warrior

The infamous is losing nothing with the new rotation of cards, so be prepared for another year of Pirate warrior. You want to mulligan for the Mana Wyrm, Babbling Book, Frostbolt, Shimmering Tempest, and Primordial Glyph to keep up with them. When looking for spells in Primordial Glyph go for the AoE spells like Arcane Explosion, Volcanic Potion, and Meteor. Use your spells like Frostbolt and minion like Water Elemental to freeze their minions or face from hitting your face. The main goal is to watch out for their health, as mortal strike can do 6 damage if they go below 12 health so watch how much damage they can do to their own face just to inch out enough to get lethal. Late game is where you can succeed with enough good stat minions and a taunt in Tol’vir Stoneshaper, you should have the game after about turn 6.

More tips and data to come when this deck is put to the test when the new expansion launches later today.
