Mulligans
General Mulligans
This deck runs very few cheap cards and even fewer cheap cards you want to play early. For this reason it's important to keep Spellstone to ensure your overloaded crystals get value, and Far Sight to cheat out your big boys early. Beyond that, Maelstrom can help manage early pressure and generate a board, and Feral Spirit represents an excellent source of early minions.
Aggro Mulligans
Against aggro you cant waste valuable mulligan slots on combo completion. Instead, aim for big taunts, wide taunts, and AOE as represented in the cards I've chosen. In this meta, Spellbreaker is common in aggro decks but against shaman they are unlikely to keep it so Drakaari should be safe. After this initial hand, aim to stick an earth elemental or thing from below and jam Ancestral Spirit or even Spellstone if possible.
Combo Mulligans
As a combo/control deck, your best bet to beat other combo decks is to play your combo first, hence the Spellstone and draw. Earth elemental is iffy, but it can be valuable for applying pressure and hopefully delaying your opponent's plans, not to mention the juicy overload for your Spellstone.
Control Mulligans
Control is by far the best matchup for this deck, with the exception of Priest which barely qualifies as control anyways. The choices are obvious. Ensure you keep Spellstone for quick upgrades, keep crushing hand for taunts and their eventual big boys, and draw as many cards as you can so that you can stick Ancestral Spirited Giants before they can draw the cards to remove your board twice. This is my spin on Frodan’s KnC concede shaman. Healing Rain in lieu of White Eyes helps mitigate inevitable chip damage and the Drakaari Defender replaces Flamewreath Faceless. Not only is Drakaari better against aggro, but it also better upgrades Sapphire Spellstone and can be used in on the same turn as the aforementioned Spellstone for a defensive fallback. This deck will lose to priest, a lot. It does however beat warlock if you can stick Ancestral Spirit on a Snowfury Giant, and can beat aggro with the right AOE draws and Spellstone on Thing from Below. Beyond that, your game plan is to play big sticky boys and to have fun!
