A little budget control mage I Made for a friend who just started playing the game.
I guess this could be considered a freeze mage?
Arcane Artificer is essential in this deck; in my playtesting, it has clutched games countless times. General advice here to all new players, if you plan on playing any card and something similar to Arcane Intellect on the same turn, always play your draw FIRST. This makes it so you have a chance to draw a card that may work better in your current situation than the one you were about to play.
I understand Silver Vanguard is a questionable choice in this deck, but being a budget deck i figured Silver Vanguard into Violet Wurm (spawning an entire board of 1-1’s when it dies) could lead to a decent late-game play. Think of it like this, in total you are getting 17-17 in total (assuming your board is empty when Violet Wurm dies) for only 7 mana.
Most of your spells are of a decent cost, so Raven Familiar works very well for drawing your larger spells.
For new players, I give the advice of please read your cards before you play them. Just because Arcane Artificer is a 1 drop, does NOT mean you should play it Turn 1. Arcane Artificer should be reserved exclusively for when you are about to play a big spell, or when it is your only chance of survival.
Anyways, that’s my budget control mage decklist, if anyone has any suggestions I will be sure to try them out.

Hail Friend! i appreciate your guide and the work you put into this for your friend i was wondering is there anyway you could post some replacements for when you get better cards? like i played this deck and i enjoyed it but now i have obtained frost lich jaina and a few other epics that could make a budget control mage but not really a full blown 4 legendary control mage there is little information on a mid-cost control mage if this deck isnt possible i understand but if i coud get your feedback it would be greatly appreciated thank you for your time
