Deadly Arsenal Card Review

Interesting concept – it’s like Dragon's Fury for Warrior, except that it looks at the weapon’s attack instead of its cost. It basically means that if you play it, you don’t really want to run a weapon with less than 5 attack. Maybe 4 if the weapon is really good, but we don’t have 4 Attack Warrior weapons in Standard anyway. You absolutely don’t want to pay 6 mana for 2-3 damage AoE (why not just play Warpath instead, then).

In order to run this card, you need to drop the Blood Razor, as well as any other “cheaper” weapon you could have – e.g. Fiery War Axe or the new Woodcutter's Axe. Blood Razor, however, is the most severe loss in any kind of Control-oriented Warrior. The weapon is just great, especially in a meta with lots of token-oriented/board flood decks.

Right now, this card only works with Arcanite Reaper and Gorehowl. However, Arcanite Reaper is more of an aggressive weapon, and Gorehowl is a bit difficult to run more than one copy of (even one copy can be slow and clunky at times). In order for this to be consistent, I’d say that you’d need to run 3 copies in total – maybe 2 at lowest, because Dead Man's Hand could shuffle more back into your deck when you draw them.

Right now, I just don’t think it’s worth it. This card could be much better as an Odd-Cost card instead. In Odd Warrior, you wouldn’t be able to play the 2 or 4 mana weapons anyway, so this would make sense. But since it’s Even, you can’t put it into an Odd deck. So what’s the point?

While it’s true that Sleep with the Fishes rotates out and Warrior will be looking for another board clear, I will most likely stick with Brawl and try out both Warpath and Reckless Flurry before this. Maybe in the future, if we get some strong 4+ Attack weapons for Warrior, but I just don’t see it right now. Like, if we could replace Blood Razor with Death's Bite, then I’d dig it.

Card rating: 4/10

This card is absolute trash. First of all, this goes into a control list and would have to sacrifice Blood Razor unless you want to risk 2 damage AoE for 6. Therefore, the IDEAL deck would be 2x Gorehowl and Fiery War Axe. According to statistics, there is a 78.1% chance of having AT LEAST one of those weapons in your hand by turn 6 and a 51.7% chance of having this card in your hand by that same turn, assuming that you have 2 copies in your deck.
Now for the chances of success: the best case scenario with this card is to play it turn 6 onto a full enemy board and deal 7 AoE damage (Gorehowl). To find this probability, we multiply our probability of both gorehowls being in our deck times the probability of having at least one copy of Deadly Arsenal in our hand times the probability of Deadly Arsenal selecting Gorehowl.
    Probability A: P(all weapons in deck) = 0.219
    Probability B: P(1+ Deadly Arsenal in hand) = 0.517
    Probability C: P(selecting Gorehowl from deck) = 0.5
    P(A|B|C) = 0.056
The probability of having the most optimistic yet realistic scenario occur is about FIVE PERCENT. There are other scenarios that are better and more hopeful (having drawn both war axes) however they have their own downside (less chance of even having a weapon to hit with your second Deadly Arsenal).
So yeah, this card sucks. Personally, I give it 2.5/10 stars. It might see experimentation but so will most warrior decks. Even if control warrior does become a thing, I can assure you this will not be in the core package of it or even the tech package.
P.S. correct me if my math is wrong, I’m fairly confident in my statistic skills but not fully

Well, thinking a little about this card I realize it wouldn’t enters in a odd cost control warrior but…a even cost control warrior would good too, cause it replace the brawl to clear the board but the single problem rigth now is that there’s none even costed weapon with big attack, blizzard will probly reveal that card but I’m afraid they won’t do that, making it a useless card…

Oh, look, it’s a Dragon’s Fury for Warrior! Only problem is it has bad synergy with the newly revealed Woodcutter’s Axe and with Woecleaver. Still, running Arcanite Reaper or Gorehowl is not strange to Warrior. Hope to see Control Warrior this meta! 3.5 out of 5 stars.

if another high attack playable weapon comes out this year, it could make this viable. I’m just not seeing it though as it stands right now

ARE ARCANITE REAPER NOR GOREHOWL STRONG ENOUGH FOR YOU?

See, the issue with this cars is just not even the fact that you’d need to run Gorehowl to get the best value of the card, but rather you have to have Gorehowl in your deck, and this card has to be justifiably better to play in comparison to Brawl, which is cheaper, and has a small but significant chance of you winning the brawl while this card would kill most everything. Ultimately, it has the same issue with Dragon’s Fury with lack of consistency, but worse because Warrior already has Brawl to clear the board.

WHY ARE ALL THE WARRIORS CARDS EVEN? I was really looking forward to trying to make a Tank Up deck work on the initial reveal of Witchwood but it seems so unbelievably unviable with what we’ve been shown.

That being said, in terms of actual power level I don’t think this card is that good. Potentially, yes, you can fill your deck with only high-damage weapons and get a potent AoE. But are you seriously going to give up Blood Razor for this? I don’t THINK so, but there’s some possibility that Militia Commander is such potent removal on 4 that you can consider it. But even then, if you’re running Militia Commander in a control deck, don’t you also want to run Woodcutter’s Axe? I don’t know, the design of this card is fine but it seems VERY clunky unless we see some more “big weapon” support for Warrior. And we’ve seen most of their cards already. And weapon removal is going to be everywhere because of how strong Cubelock is. And…

Given how asinine it was to play against Fatigue Warrior back during TGT, I have no doubt this is all VERY intentional. It was crazy enough that they hit obscene amounts of effective healing starting on Turn 6, with Baku the Mooneater giving it to them from the start and cards like Bring it On still around, giving warrior strong removal like this that works with Baku would be guaranteed to bring that deck back in full force.

Whoops, forgot Bring it On is even cost and wouldn’t work with Baku. My bad Point still stands though.

This is a good t6 card. But there needs to be one more 4 drop spell that gives decent board clear for warrior to be back in the control

  13. Law-kun
    April 1, 2018 at 12:21 pm

For a 6 mana AOE you want to do at minimum 3 damage. Blizzard gets away with 2 damage with the freeze, and hellfire does damage to yourself which is why its only 4 mana. Considering that it hits your minions as well, you probably want to hit 4 or 5 damage minimum to compensate for the loss of your own minions. This puts it in line with flamestrike or the priest dragon AOE (cant remember the name…), which is decent. Unfortunatly this means effectively having a gorehowl and maybe 1 or two other high cost weapons, sucks because warrior has some decent low mana weapons that they would probably want to use. The use of this spell depends on wether warrior can build a deck with only those high cost weapons, and I kind of doubt that it can. In the right deck though this could be decent.

      doesn’t destroy armor

  20. Soup And Salad
    April 1, 2018 at 7:59 am

This probably won’t see extensive play since Brawl tends to be a better form of AOE removal as it will kill almost everything every time and comes out a turn earlier. If you were to play only the bigger weapons, Gorehowl and Arcanite Reaver, this will on average deal 6 damage to everything, which is better than Dragonfire Potion.

The only issue with that idea is a control Warrior deck will need to play low cost weapons to help deal with the early game boards, and you might not draw them by the time you play this, resulting in a wet fart with a Volcanic Potion for 6 if you pull out the new Woodcutter’s Ax or Blood Razor often enough. You could only play Gorehowl to ensure this will do 7 damage all of the time, but that does leave your early game lacking and drawing both of them before you get to use this can and will happen.

This card will be nice to have within Warrior’s arsenal, but I doubt it’ll do a whole lot unless some cheap weapon with high attack at least in the deck comes along.

    • Jorgelenny47
      April 1, 2018 at 8:07 am

      Woodcutter’s axe? Wtf is that?

    • Yggdreigon
      April 1, 2018 at 9:40 am

Control Warrior won’t play woodcutter obviously. Woodcutter is a tempo card.
Given what gorehowl is for (clearing the board of minions specifically) this pairs really nicely with it.
sure, thinking of playing a control warrior deck without bloodrazor feels odd but this might open the gate for a new kind of warrior control deck.

      • Soup And Salad
        April 1, 2018 at 9:59 am

Control Warrior would if they have no other good options for early game removal, and they definitely will if some of the Rush minions end up going into the deck.

      • MockRock
        April 1, 2018 at 4:25 pm

They might, Rush is obviously good in tempo decks but also acts as a pseudo-removal spell which leaves a body behind, I wouldn’t be too surprised to see something like the Militia Commander make it into a Control Warrior.

  21. Daniel
    April 1, 2018 at 7:33 am

Cool effect but extremely overcosted. 6 costs should be “enemy minions”, 3 or 4 cost should be minions.

    • Soup And Salad
      April 1, 2018 at 8:14 am

That didn’t stop Lightbomb and Dragonfire Potion from seeing play in Priest, another control oriented class,

      • Ertje
        April 1, 2018 at 1:55 pm

Lightbomb and Dragonfire Potion are also just really powerful cards, This is weaker then either of those

        • Soup And Salad
          April 1, 2018 at 7:29 pm

This can be as strong as if not stronger than Dragonfire Potion if you build your deck around it. I’m not saying you’d want to, but this is hardly trash tier since there is an idea behind it that can work like Dragon’s Fury.

  23. Helioshadow
    April 1, 2018 at 7:29 am

Oh cool! I have a golden Gorehowl! 😀

Needs to be noted that you probably don’t want any other weapons besides Gorehowl in the deck to keep consistency with this deck, which may or may not be detrimental to the deck. Also needs to be of note that you need to STILL HAVE the weapon in deck when you play the card; only one Gorehowl in the deck won’t be consistent enough to run Deadly Arsenal. I mean, would work decently in Wild w/ Death’s Bite, so… meh.

As of now, if you want the card to be comparable to Flamestrike, all we have is Ogre Warmaul and Death’s Bite in Wild. Otherwise, Gorehowl’s your best bet. Excavated Evil’s one cost lower and deals 3, so I’ll leave that to you whether you’d think a 3-damage AOE is worth 6 mana.

Can’t synergize well in even decks, because even weapons aren’t really attack-focused atm. And doesn’t work in odd decks because, well… 6-cost.

Not necessarily. A good control deck can easily live that long, and aggressive decks outside of Paladin at the moment will usually have a hard time recovering from a 5+ damage AOE removal.
