Reckless Experimenter Nerf Will Go Live Alongside Upcoming Buff Patch (June 3)

After the recent announcement of a new, free Legendary – SN1P-SN4P – players have quickly realized of its combo potential. In particular, there was one Priest combo that looked especially powerful and uninteractive. Sticking Coppertail Imposter on Turn 4 (which was kind of likely, given that it has Stealth and 4 Health) would allow Priest to play Reckless Experimenter on Turn 5 and then Echo SN1P-SN4P as many times as he wants (or rather, as many times as the turn timer allows). While the combo was never tested out in practice (obviously), such an opening would be an instant win in lots of cases.

As it seems, Blizzard has not foreseen this interaction, and so they’ve just announced (on redditan additional change that will happen. Reckless Experimenter is getting nerfed. It will still reduce the cost of Deathrattle minions by 3 mana, but the cost now can’t be reduced to less than 1 (so it will work just like Summoning Portal does now). Which means that you still might be able to play it a few times in the late game, but no longer OTK the opponent on Turn 5.

The change goes live alongside all of the card buffs on June 3. For a limited amount of time, players will be able to disenchant Reckless Experimenter for its full Dust value (so 400 for Normal version and 1,600 for Golden version), just like with any other nerf.

  1. […] infamous-even-before-its-out Turn 5 OTK (because, as you might remember, Reckless Experimenter is also getting changed), SN1P-SN4P still looks like a good Legendary. We might see it in certain Mech decks, such as Mech […]

Its good that they nerfed this combo preemptively. Didnt expect such a quick reaction from them to be honest.

I was so pissed off when I opened 5 extra copies of this card during TBP season. Disenchanted them all, but oh well, 800 dust is still fine. 🙂

Haha so they did miss it, well still a strong combo in wild. With the mech cost reducing minion. Get three copies of it on the field and you will win.

Mage is the best candidate… Simulacrum and molten reflection

Yes, I also think a mage deck should be good, there are already decent aggressive mage mech decks and maybe this could give them that extra boost Finnish.

Otherwise there is always ZOLA THE GORGON, PRINCE TALDARAM, FACELESS MANIPULATOR, DEAD MAN’S HAND (warrior), FLOBBIDINOUS FLOOP (if you miss the others in druid), or rouges copy cards. However most of them would need more cost reducing cards if you want to see this combo take of early.
