Mulligans
Hey and thanks for taking a look at my deck!
What we’ve got here is my own personal take on the current Tempo Mage archetype. While I love the synergy plays (is there anything more statisfying than hitting that turn 3 (with the coin) Flamewaker play to clear the board and crush your opponents aggro dreams), I generally tend to play more of a long game controlling style so I’ve modded out the deck to better fit that style and play better against other late game control decks. But being that I’m still experimenting and tinkering I’d love to get as much feedback as I can. Substitutions, tech ideas, combo ideas or just theoretical musings are all welcome! Below I’ll give a brief explination of the general concepts underlying the deck, reason as to why I went with some of the cards I chose instead of those found in your typical Tempo Mage deck and other miscellaneous thoughts. If you’re not familiar with this archetype a) you clearly don’t play a lot of ladder 😛 and b) please feel free to look up more standard Tempo Mage decks as a primer (or go ahead and just use mine if you like it, immitation after all is the highest form of flattery.) Lol. Now, onto the deck!
Now as we all know (since you’ve gone and looked up standard Tempo Mage by this point) the idea behind any Tempo oriented deck is to get ahead and stay ahead of your opponent by applying constant pressure and gradually ramping up the threat level by developing your board and protecting it with removal or other delaying tactics. Recently, we’ve seen a lot more Rush Tempo type decks in the meta and to be honest I hate that style of play. It’s boring (but effective, I’ll admit) and missess out on some of the amazing interactions that Hearthstone has to offer. I chose to go with a slightly slower, more control oriented deck. I’ve found this really helps me if the game goes longer than 7-8 turns (at which point rush decks have run out of steam).
More to come later.
