The main issue with Exodia Mages in Witchwood is we lost A LOT SPELLS from Cabalist’s Tome for our Quest.

This deck solves the issue by:

1) Including a few ELEMENTALS for Lesser Ruby Spellstone. 2 Shimmering Tempest will give you 2. Lesser Ruby Spellstone can give you at least 2 each if played correctly. 2+4 = 6 Spells for Quest.

2) Shifting scroll. I was sceptical of this card at first. But after trying it out. I discovered that this card is ridiculously UNDERRATED. It shifts into a random MAGE SPELL. As you know, most mage spells are really useful in a lot of situations. When building a deck, the reason a spell was chosen over another spell is because it is better for that deck, but it does not mean that the remaining spells not chosen for the deck are useless. I would say at worst it has a 50% chance to get a spell which can save you (3rd Frost Nova / Blizzard). It has saved me countless of time when it transformed into something somewhat usable that turn. = 2 spells for Quest.

2 from PrimGlyph + 2 from ShimTemp + 4 from LRS + Shifting Scroll = 10 Spells.

Another reason for playing elementals is that we can include 2 Tar Creepers against aggro, which counts for LRS.

Feel free to swap any cards which you seem fit eg. Tar Creeper for Steam Surger if you need more spells / Bonfire Ele if you need card draws / whatever elemental suits your taste. I would not recommend replacing any of the spell generating cards as you will get spell starved to complete the Quest.

Questions:

1) Some might ask about card draw as the old exodia decks have cards like coldlight / novice engineer for combo spell pieces. That is where Shifting Scroll & PrimGlpyh shines. Transform / discover your missing combo piece.

2) No Arcanologist? The only secret worth playing in this deck now is 2 Ice Barriers. Mana Bind is not good as most aggro decks will kill you without a single spell or useful spell you can use against them. Because we only have 2 Ice Barriers secrets, Arcanologist is not as valuable. And we don’t have space for it in the deck as we depend on the new useful elementals to generate spells from Lesser Ruby Spellstone.

Mulligan: Pretty much the same as old exodia.

Against aggro decks, Doomsayer / Tar Creeper.

Against control / late game / value decks, look for Lesser Ruby Spellstone & Arcane Intellect, playing elementals while this is in your hand early is really powerful + card draw = completing quest earlier

*Disclaimer: Exodia mage is really tough to build because of the main issue mentioned above. It is definitely tougher to play without Iceblock. I have tried to balance the spell starve with survival in this deck. Kindly share your knowledge and experience so we can improve this Exodia Mage. OTK FTW.
