The deck is made specifically to counter the first card played by Lich King when he is against Mage, “the True Lich” which set the enemy hero’s remain health to 1.

In order to make this deck work, you need to do two things:

Step 1: You must draw TWO cards in your opening hand, one copy of Counterspell, and one copy of Kabal Lackey. This way, in your first turn, you will play Kabal Lackey, and then you can play Counterspell without cost. In the next turn, the Lich King will play “the True Lich”, and your Counterspell will cancel it out. As result, you will play a normal game with 30 health. You must have this much health in order to survive long enough to play Exodia Combo.

Note: the chance that you draw those two cards are pure luck, if you don’t draw those two, then restart the game right away. If you are lucky, you might get it the first try, if you are unlucky, you will need to restart game few more times.

Step 2: You will need to complete the Exodia Mage Combo. The basic requirement is:

(a) 8 or more Mama

(b) Complete or able to complete at that turn the quest “Open the WAYGATE”

(c) Have one copy of Archmage Antonidas

(d) Able to place at least 4 copies of Sorcerer’s Apprentice, this means, (assume you did not discover any similar cards with Primordial Glyph, Babbling Book, and Cabalist’s Tome), you will need two copies of Sorcerer’s Apprentice and two copies of Molten Reflection

Suggestions:

1. You should try to play normal version of Exodia Mage before try to go against Lich King

2. As with all Exodia Mage, the success of this deck is only 50% at best, but Lich King’s deck is not Aggro, therefore, you should still have a fair chance of pull it off

3. Do not waste card defend your health too quick, Lich King can’t give you a lot of damage at the start. Also, when he uses his weapon, he will transform all his minion into Ice Block, this mean actually means those minions can’t attach during that turn anyway.

4. Save you freeze cards until the Lich King have used his weapon. This way, you can free 7 minions per turn, any he can only attach you himself. He can deal 5 damage, but if your health is above 5 and you have a minion, he will always attach minion because he is immune at that time.

Final words:

This deck is no where near consistence, and the hardest part is step 1. However, it does work, and compare to other way of beating Lich King, this might just be one of the easiest.
