Here is one of several situations where mistress is better than freezing potion : it can be played in combo turn to counter paladin’s eye for eye.
Ice barrier achieves nothing. Consider mana bind as it’s extremely useful against aggro druid(living mana) and jade druid(nourish). Mistres of mixtures is weaker than freezing potion. If you exchange blizzard with volcanic potion you could argue that mistres of mixtures is usefull.
