Mulligans

General Mulligans

On coin, Prospector's turn 1 is extremely strong. If you do have a prospectors, strongly consider throwing away any spells, even Scav to get further minion buff value immediately. However, Scav is still a good option regardless and is better than risking throwing away all of your other cards. Selective to fish for a 3 cost beast to play on curve. Shando to buff all beasts early on. If you get shando, it is then best to throw away all beasts so they get buffed in your deck instead and to foin it out on turn 2.

Aggro Mulligans

Most buffs/minions for cheap mana. If you know opponent has a slow start, prospector's turn 1 with coin is going to give significantly more power if you are able to drop two one drops on turn two or one drop + adorable.

**Spell mage kind of counters all of the buffing this deck does. Highly recommend playing agro vs mages!** Regardless, it is likely they have cone of cold, blizzard, or flamestrike in the mid/late game to counter you going wide on board.

Midrange Mulligans

Gives a good balance. Turn 1 drop, Pack Tactics for a turn 2 3/3 potentially with Frenzy synergy to potentially get more beasts in deck pre-shando. Shando to buff beasts and solid 3/3. Zixor for reactivity with rush.

Combo Mulligans

Fairly easy double prospector's even without both in your hand!

Drop prospector's turn one with coin and pack tactics turn 2. Since prospector's buffs ALL minions, you want to throw away other spells of course but also any beasts to look for nonbeasts to buff up the few turns before you drop shando. Very easy 5/5 or higher shando drop on turn 3!

Control Mulligans

Rush to clear early minions. Often buffed to 3 or 4 attack so very strong.

Potential Alternative Cards: Tracking, Helboar, Overwhelm, Dire Frenzy, Piercing Shot, Crossroads Watch Post, Moonfang, Overlord Runthak

Tracking is actually a good turn one to search for Shando, Prospector’s, or Zixor. Depending on the matchup….Shando, Prospector’s, and Scavenger’s Ingenuity make it a fairly good options to not play any one drops early on. So it is fine to start with these other cards.

Helboar has a bit more upfront value than the other 1 costs if also unbuffed, but this deck doesn’t run a 2 cost beast (I do not think any good ones exist right now anyways) you are likely to drop the following turn so it loses value if it gets killed off. Your best hope is that it goes on a 1 or 3 cost beast if it dies quickly. More likely though, it lives for a bit and goes on something irrelevant or you don’t have a beast in your hand at all. as a deathrattle effect you also have less control over if or when it goes off. Overall, I just think the one costs are better used for being buffed rather than buffing other minions.

Overwhelm may be an alternative to Scrap Shot or Adorable Infestation. This deck can often go fairly wide with things like Wolpertingers, Adorable Infestation, and just many low cost minions. It’s synergy with Adorable is one reason I’d argue against swapping them out. A targetable 4-6 damage is extremely useful for only 1 mana rather than relying on the deadly shot RNG. However, with spell mage’s popularity, it may not see huge use right now and many of this deck’s minions aren’t beasts…despite a likely wide board.

Dire Frenzy synergizes amazing with Savenger’s in the late game, drawing super buffed beasts and potentially further buffing them all with Warsong. More often than not you will have already used up one Scav before that part of the game. Warsong or any 3+1 us also a much better play on turn 4. Some superbuffed Sunscales or Wolpertingers are insane though.

Even though Scrap Shot or Dire Frenzy synergize with this deck so much more, you more often than not need the upfront 6 damage to kill off a taunted minion. This is something I’m testing significantly.

With the prevalence of spell mage, This is another potential counter I’m testing. Idea is to play agro vs mage so you god wide early and this super buffs them before the mage can mass aoe.

Moonfang’s passive works great with the buffs to health, making it relatively hard to kill for its high damage. However, with the popularity of spellburst one dmg minions and similar spells right now, it may be fairly easy to kill off in turn 5/6 if it only has 4-6 health. Another problem is that legendaries by nature cannot synergize with Warsong as well and this deck is already running Zixor and King Krush that you may be forced to buff. Though with their rush and charge effects, you at least are more likely to get to utilize the buff and and are likely attempting to discover them to help clear board or go for lethal rather than just drop a random minion. Also, an extra Zixor Prime is insane for the late game.

Overlord Runthak..more buffs! Biggest problem is it’s another nonbeast in a deck that already runs nearly too many for the beast synergies it wants. It’s also a bit late in the game to start buffing things and you may not even get the chance to rush it at anything with the prevalence of spell mage right now. The fact that it works on all minions is huge though.
