I am testing this deck and until now Ramp druid, oil rogue and grim patron are out at level 5. Fun to play and competitive

So I am running a dragon list and only started recently, so I may be wrong, but I have seen explosive sheep do work against the aggro decks. Also i run 1 iron beak owl. Is that good or should I replace it? And what about water elemental? Here is my list, I do not own some of the legendaries like dr boom or i would for sure add them.

    2x frostbolt
    2x explosive sheep
    1x ironbeak owl
    2x mad scientist
    2x arcane int.
    2x duplicate
    2x blackwing tech
    2x polymorph
    2x hungry drag
    2x water elemental
    2x antique healbot
    2x sludge belcher
    1x emperor thaurissan
    2 volcanic drake
    2x flame strike
    1x rend blackhand
    1x chromaggus

I find some of the most tempo plays are where I board wipe and play a free volcanic drake. It is nice, especially on turn 4

Testing it also, I didn’t have Ysera sadly so I’m using Pyroblast instead which is working quite well all things considered.

Replaced 1 Zombie Chow with Ysera, worked fine! Without Ysera Control decks(Warrior/Priest/Pala) are more painful than Aggro decks. Rank 5-10 at least.
    63% Win ratio atm.
Most difficult matchups in my opinion:
    *Control Paladin
    *Zoo Lock

    Easy matchups:
    *Mech Mage
*Dragon Lock (why did I play so much against them?!)

    Greetings 🙂

I was playing this deck today and yes, I was winning… but I am not quite sure how? Normally up to around turn 5 you feel pretty vulnerable. Control decks tend to work around your early game and aggro decks tend to be very far ahead by turn 5.

Yet for some reason… I still came back. Some tricky methods of duplicating heal bot, or duplicating blackwing corrupter helped me pull ahead. Once I took control of the late game board, my opponent was out of cards in his hand and I kept a strong top deck.

Miracle Rogues can give me problems, but that is a tricky deck to go against with a deck like this.

    My changes:
    -1 Alexstrasza, +1 Loatheb
    -1 Nefarian, +1 Sylvanas
-2 Zombie Chow, +2 Faerie Dragon
-2 Hungry Dragon, +2 Piloted Shredder

Switched Alex for Loatheb for the mid game spell control. Loatheb has a very high value. I still see the reason for Alex, with you tanking early game face. But like I said with Duplicate and Healbots you can do wonders for survival.

Nefarian for Sylvanas. I felt Nefarian was just there for a dragon spot and a gimmicky end game play. Sylvanas allows that mid game distraction and potential game change.

Zombie Chow for Faerie because even mid/late game Faerie can be useful. Zombie Chow tends to lose its value if its drawn late. This is purely optional, it just works well for me.

Hungry Dragons for Shredders. Since I replaced the Chows for Faeries, then the number of dragons is still the same. I feel Shredders just offer too much value to pass up. Classes like Paladin, Druid, Priest can turn that 1 cost minion into a HUGE problem. While Shredders offer 2 for the price of 1 and can be traded off if needed and still keep value.

Just my 2 cents. I am still hunting for that “dragon” deck. This and Dragon Priest have been the most successful.

Sylvanas is good but I think nefarian sometimes makes a crucial difference, like giving you sacrificial pacts when there’s so many handlocks with jaraxxus or brawl against the patron decks

Interesting adjustments. I’ll have to take a swing at it and see how it plays. Personally I tinkered and tinkered until I got a Dragon Paladin deck that I LOVE. It’s still missing a few legendary cards that I just can’t seem to get, but it holds its own.

Don’t have Alex. Okay to replace with Chromaggus?

It’s an option, but Alex is much more versatile. You could also try Ysera.

      June 11, 2015 at 4:46 pm

Use ysera with alex. Chromaggus is good too but alex can get you back in the game or chunk someone down for you to have lethal in one turn.

An observation, using two faerie dragons instead of zombie chows and my win rate went remarkably up. Zombie chow’s a dead card if not drawn at the right moment, also it ends up helping the opponent and doesn’t have dragon synergy like faerie dragons.

Giving it a whirl – I do agree with the comment about adding faerie dragons offering a bit more dragon synergy… I’m trying with one mad scientist and one zombie chow to add them. We’ll see.

I haven’t missed the Zombie Chow at all, but I was wishing for a fireball a couple of times.

Chromaggus, Alexstrasza, should be a Dragon.

its not a dragon deck when there isnt any cards that do something with that minion type. yes rend blackhand does but thats just one card

Blackwing Technician and Blackwing Corruptor don’t have Dragon synergy? It also has 6 Dragons, and when you add the Technician and Corruptor that’s 10 cards associated with Dragons.

Very cool deck, in ladder 6-2, i replace 1 zombie chow with 1 fireball, i thinking replace Rend Blackhand with Ragnaros.

    Hm, mage without fireballs!

    • aggressive gardener
      June 4, 2015 at 10:54 am

well, everyone thinks every mage needs fireballs when really its not that importan and is better replaced with something that is better for the type of deck you are running. I am more concerned about the mad scientists because i mean you only have 1 secret, and why isnt emperor in the deck? its a need card when you are running this type of deck. So all around i do not aprove.

Pretty common for the more grindy control Mages.

        What rank?
        Also
I don’t quite know how I feel about ice block. Given there are no offensive spells in this, slowing the game down feels like a move of desperation.
If he had more taunts or some healing, maybe it could slow it down enough but having open face and saving with Ice block is pretty damning here. Like you will lose that game 9/10 times.

        • Cody
          June 19, 2015 at 5:21 pm

The ice block feels like really bad tech. It doesn’t help at all. Perhaps a second ice barrier instead?

I dont like this deck. When you can finally start playing you have like 15 life. Not great at all
