Security Rover Card Review

This card seems really, really bad. While it has some Grim Patron vibes, it’s nothing like that. Patron was strong, because its copies could also copy itself. This is more like Hogger, Doom of Elwynn, just without a powerful initial body.

Let’s start with stating obvious. 6 mana 2/5 is absolutely terrible. By that time, your opponent will definitely have a way to either kill it in one blow (and minimize the value) or just remove it with a spell etc. Triggering once is obviously terrible – 2/5 + 2/3 Taunt for 6 mana sucks. Even triggering it two times, which is realistically a very good scenario, it’s still bad. You need to trigger it 3 times or more to make it work, and that’s very hard. Either you need to buff it and your opponent needs to have absolutely no removal/Silence, or you need to play some Whirlwind effects and such, but that’s mostly a waste for a card like that.

If this card has Rush or Taunt, just something extra, it would be a better, but probably still not good enough. To really make it work, you need to not only have Dr. Boom, Mad Genius already played (so it has Rush), but also have some relatively cheap Magnetic minion to stick it to this guy and potentially get more value. You might see it being played sometimes, from the random Discover effects and stuff, but I seriously doubt that it will be good enough to play in the deck.

Card rating: 2/10

This card can be important in exodia deck Mechacthun, as it enables big battlerage turn via its rush tokens combined with whirlwind effects.

I see Security Rover as a 10 Mana 6/8 because you play this with warpath to abuse the Card’s passive ability.
At first I was seeing this as Warrior’s version of Ironwood Protector (8 mana 8/8 taunt), but I think 10 Mana 2/3: have a 2/2 and 2/3 with taunt along with dealing 2 damage to all other minions is not bad. But then.. You can just play primordial Drake, which just saves the work for you.

So the way on how I’m seeing this is, This card is basically a worse version of Primal Drake, but if you have a Magnetic with high health along with a decent wall, this card is actually pretty good.

Do give me feedback of what you think about Security Rover, since I’m seeing use and the uselessness of this card.

I’ll give it 2 stars for now.

Overcosted. It just looks like a worse Hogger, which also costs 6 mana. Sure, the mech tags make a difference with Dr Boom’s passive ability, but I believe we will only see this card when generated from Discovering Mechs, and not by including it in a deck. When played with Rush, it’s decent. Otherwise it’s bad. So 1.5/5 stars.

Security Rover is a little expensive for what it does, but if there’s a class that can taken advantage of such an effect, it would be Warrior. At the very least it will summon at least one 2/3 under normal circumstances, kinda making it 4/8 worth of stats for six, which is far from extraordinary. Since it’s a Mech and Dr. Boom gives Mechs rush, against a token deck after turn seven, this could be a six mana 2/4 or 2/3 that will kill a small minion and come with a 2/3 that also would have rush.

If there is anything that kills the potential of this card it is the cost. At six mana, it would really have to summon at least three 2/3s to make it worth it. It would be possible if Aggro Token Shaman becomes competitive again with the tools that deck has received thus far, but a five health minion dropping on turn six probably won’t live long enough to get hit more than once without some input on its player’s part.

This card seems like it has potential to be scary. If you can’t kill it in one single attack from a minion it can get out of hand quickly causing your opponent to have to do a multi trade slowing the game down tremendously.

Also it reads *when this minion take damage* that means any damage will trigger the effect which can create some pretty nice whirlwinds and warpaths

Card for a warrior mech deck, it can rush immediately and then the mech can rush immediately, if you have boom up. It’s a 6 mana 4/8 like this,

If you have boom up is a 6 mana 6/11 since you are not going to take a bad trade unless you are dying next turn.

How 6/11? Itself has to take damage in order to trigger, not its spawns… It’s at best a 4/7 for 6 on the first turn you play it if you have boom up

If you get to rush in on a target that can’t kill it, you generate a taunt, then when your opponent later trades into this to finish it off, you get another taunt.

Keep in mind in a dr. Boom deck this could have rush and then the little 2/3 would have rush also. Hard to see this being played other than some type of dr. Boom magnetic deck

This would be good if it had taunt.. 6 mana is way too much as it is. 2.5/5.

Seems to be a good target for magnetic effects. Warrior does have many good cards which deal 1 damage to all minions. But I think it’s a bad turn 6 play, especialy if your behind on the board. Depending on how many good magnetic minions there will be for warrior, I’m gonna rate this 3 to 4 Stars.

Mediocre alone, but might be intressting in a magnetic combo
