Devolving Missiles
This is maybe even better than Devolve because it ‘adapts’ to your opponent’s board. And Devolve was a good card! This’ll see play for sure, especially if Priest, Paladin, and Bonechewer Brawler will be lurking around.
Diligent Notetaker
Shaman is happy for any card generation he can get. If nothing else you can use this with Mutate or Lightning Bloom very easily, Torrent is pretty cool as well. Or you can topdeck this in the lategame and get an extra Dragon’s Pack or whatever good new midcost spells they’re printing for Shaman. Has potential, but obviously Thrall needs to work on his wincons for support cards to see play.
First Day of School
Support for Token Paladin. 0 Mana spells will be important activators for Spellburst, as well. This card actually seems pretty good to me!
Goody Two-Shields
A tricky card that will require you to time your spells right to avoid wasting the Spellburst effect. At the same time, you have to hope your opponent doesn’t just kill it, preventing you from getting the extra Divine Shield…
Reminds me of The Glass Knight, with less stats and infinity potential, but much easier to activate.
Lightning Bloom
Druid can use it for combo potential and an Exotic Mountseller/Kaelthas activator.
Shaman can use it for uhhh whatever he winds up trying to do this expac. It’ll be tricky because unless they print good card draw for Shaman, he wants to curve out and not blow his hand on 0-cost cards. He does have cards that synergize with Overload rn though.
Normally I wouldn’t say you’d want to spend a card for this effect, but 0-mana spells could be important activators for Spellburst and whatnot.
Nature Studies
It replaces itself, provides some flexibility and even provides some evening to your mana curve. These Studies spells might be good activators for Spellburst, too.
This expansion is probably the best chance we have for these 1-mana discover spells to be playable.
Rattlegore
Very sticky but I strongly suspect Warrior will have better things to do.
Also consider that two of the lategame AoEs (Plague of Death and Amazing Reno) will work around the deathrattle.
Cult Neophyte
Seems like just another 2/3/2 Tech card that doesn’t see play. It can sometimes prevent your opponents Spellburst turn or AoE but is that good and consistent enough where you’d run this?
Troublemaker
Pretty big stats considering the effect. Could very easily be excluded from decks if the meta remains as fast as it is, though.
Shan'do Wildclaw
Could be potent. I can see a Tempo Beast Hunter deck forming around this- the DeckBuff is downright Keleseth-ish, and Hunter might also use the copy effect too because he has a lot of handbuff cards that haven’t assembled into a deck quite yet. Druid needs some big beasts to play (is Winged Guardian good enough?), the copy effect could be a great payoff for all your ramping.
Depends on Support/5
Wretched Tutor
Good answer to Demon Hunter’s midgame boards if he sticks around as-is. IDK overall though, seems like a clunkier Wild Pyromancer.
Wand Thief
A 1-cost 1/2 minion that replaces itself usually winds up feeling like “why NOT run this card?”. The fact that it isn’t actually a one-drop like Pharaoh Cat or Town Crier is a knock against it, but still seems playable, maybe moreso for Rogue than for Mage.
Sword and Board
Meh… while it’s a perfectly fine spell in a vacuum, Warrior doesn’t use his 1-cost spells like this. It only fits Control Warrior and he probably doesn’t need to run this, he has better stuff to do.
Overconfident Orc
I’m torn between the fact that this seems a lot like Tar Creeper (good card) and the fact that aggro decks can have such explosive starts right now, it may not work as well as you need. I’m envisioning what the average Dragon Hunter board looks like T3 and it only kills one thing, if that.
Bonechewer Brawler
A 2-mana 2/3 with taunt is worth paying attention to, the fact that it has a bonus on top of that deserves even more attention. It works well with the Augmenters… not sure that’s enough to carry a deck but color me interested.
Corsair Cache
Getting Ancharr with this is great, even Livewire Lance ain’t looking too shabby. Warrior will stay busy with a lot of strategies this expansion, but I can see this fitting into Highlander and other various decks.
Netherwind Portal
You’re using this if and only if you’re going for secret synergies or a spells-only deck. It’s kinda cool to get it online T2 with Ancient Mysteries, but that’s the best case scenario and even then it ain’t THAT impressive.
Bladestorm
So finicky! This is either a 3-mana Whirlwind … or a 3-mana Twisting Nether. It can also do crazy procs of things like Armorsmith, if you wait long enough.
My vibe is that Brawl and Plague of Wrath will be more trustworthy board wipes, but I can absolutely imagine metas where you’ll want to play this.
Dunno ’bout y’all but Kaelthas is looking much better at 7 Mana. Still tricky to deckbuild though, since you’ll want him AND cheap spells AND Overflow (or other big card draw) AND ramp AND minions to make use of the buff.
Ysiel is still probably not the best way to pop this off.
Playing this card without cheating it out is probably not worth it unless you’re treating it like a Bloodlust.
