How to Go Infinite in Hearthstone Arena - Beginner's Guide

Hello! I believe you are absolutely correct with regards to beginners’ need for cards in the earlier expansions! In retrospect, I had completely forgotten about this aspect! Thank you for this information. I will be sure to update the article as soon as I can.

How to Go Infinite in Hearthstone Arena - Beginner's Guide

Hello! I’m pretty sure most of the professional Arena players such as Amaz, Hafu, and Kripp all had terrible runs when they first started playing Arena. I believe I even went 0-3 in my first ever run! It’s a completely different experience from constructed, but I feel that as you tend to play more Arena runs, you can figure out little things or maybe even draft choices that you could have done better, and this is where you’ll be able to slowly improve yourself as a player. Yes, I understand, that’s its pretty frustrating to lose due to the disparity in card quality between you and your opponent, but perhaps there are other aspects you can focus to improve on! This guide is intended for beginners to help them get better at Arena, because no one jumps into Hearthstone and is already an Arena legend at the start. I suggest you give it another try!

How to Go Infinite in Hearthstone Arena - Beginner's Guide

In terms of tier lists, I specifically wrote that these were just guidelines and are based off the classes with the highest win rate in Arena. Just because Mage is ranked at number 1 doesn’t mean that it is necessarily better than Paladin or Rogue. It really depends on the draft itself. Additionally, if you read, I did comment that some players may consider Warlock as a Tier 3 class.

Again, for the curve section, I said specifically that they aren’t set in stone. Those are just guidelines to give an idea of what are the most common archetypes seen in Arena. Of course, there are going to be hybrids, and that’s totally fine. It is subjective, but it was written with the intent of helping newer players understand the different archetypes and their respective goals and purposes.

You’re right though about the AOE cards, where I only focused on class-specific class. I didn’t add them because they were minions, and not spells, but I’ll be sure to note them as well.

Lastly, in terms of class matchups, this is hard to do because it really depends on the draft on your opponent which can be ambiguous at times. Also, I did write about the different usual playstyles for most of the classes. I did include key cards that newer players should draft when they have the option to.

Yes! I totally agree! Unfortunately, my purposed title wasn’t approved, and the site admin replaced with it his own.

I agree that the learning curve for Arena is pretty steep, but I think the investment in learning how the game mode works, as well as acquiring sufficient knowledge about deck building and basic mechanics is worth the pay out.

Yes, it’s difficult for new players if the first thing they do is jump into Arena, but I think that once they learn the basic mechanics of the game should give it a try to enhance their skills, and potentially earn rewards in the process.

I personally havedn’t used Lightforge, so I’m not sure exactly how to install it. For HearthArena, it’s pretty simple. Yes, you need to install OverWolf, though the process should be simple and easy. I’m not sure if I can send links here, but here’s a guide I found on YT, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8YHwPnjDn4

Hope it helps!

How to Go Infinite in Hearthstone Arena - Beginner's Guide

I agree with a few things you said!

While Mage has been one of the most dominating classes in Arena, other tier 1 classes doesn’t fall too far behind. According to ArenaMastery, Mage has a 64.37% WR, but other classes like Rogue and Paladin has a 63.72% WR and 63.49% WR respectively. Now, while the most common result in Arena is 3 wins, 4.93 is the average wins per Arena run, meaning that its more unlikely to hit below 3 wins regardless of class. In an Arena simulation, assuming all players have equal skill and knowledge, 50% is likely to hit at least 3 wins (see table above).

I agree that a portion of the game is RNG-based, and has huge variance swings, but if played in the long-term, you’re likely to see more favorable outcomes if you’re playing correctly. Additionally, experience is a contributing factor to your success in Arena, thus, there are apps and TierLists to help newer players in the drafting process, which the app would also consider potential synergies and mana curve.

Though, it may be easier for a player to get 12 wins because of his/her deck, it is still possible for an experienced player to get 12 wins despite his/her horrible draft. This is due to their experience and knowledge of the game, where they are able to maneuver and find a wining line of play that others wouldn’t have see.

I think that a lot of newer players blame RNG when they lose (I sometimes do it all the time lol), even though they could have done something to prevent it. I like to think that Arena is a good place to learn the basic mechanics of the game because it makes you think from a different perspective. This is especially true in contrast to higher ranks in constructed where you face the same decks over and over.
