If you do nothing you’ll get 3,200 dust for both Ragnaros and Sylvanas (1,600 each). There’s no reason to craft the golden Ragnaros unless you want to have the golden version.

You are right on the dust counts if you DON’T own any of the cards, which is mentioned above.

Here’s an example for if you own a normal copy of Sylvanas:

Do nothing: You will get 1,600 dust and 400 dust if you disenchant her, which equals… 2,000 dust.
Craft Golden: You would spend 3,200 dust, you would get 3,200 back and 1,600 for disenchanting her. Then you could disenchant your normal copy for 400, which equals…. 2,000 dust.

The point is that you won’t gain anything if you already own a normal copy of the card. You could, however, upgrade your Sylvanas to a Golden copy and disenchant your old one for 400. Which gives you the same thing, but you won’t immediately have 1,600 dust to play with until you were to disenchant the Golden Sylvanas.

It’s still possible up until Un’Goro releases.
