Update on Mobile (Android) Performance – Should Be Fixed in the Next Update

Lately, Hearthstone’s mobile performance has been… subpar, to say the least. Players have been experiencing crashes, disconnects or graphic glitches such as the game’s logo stuck past the title screen etc. Those issues are mostly reported by Android players – the game seems to be working well on iOS.

Luckily, we’ve got some update, but lots of you aren’t going to like it. They are indeed looking into the issue, but the fix will be rolled out in the next major update, which will happen… in the next couple of weeks. While it’s not very precise and could even mean the next expansion – I think that it might come sooner. We might have a patch before BlizzCon that gets rid of the event stuff (Doom in the Tomb ends on October 30). And if not, we should also have a patch right after BlizzCon, which adds pre-orders for new set etc. It’s hard to say exactly what they mean by “next major update”, but I think that it should come out sooner than later.

Hey Folks,

I wanted to give everyone an update on the state of mobile, as we’ve seen quite a lot of threads about it.

In our next major update we will be rolling out a fix that should address the majority (if not all) of the crashes on mobile. This update will be rolling out in the next couple of weeks. Sincere apologies for the poor experience, we’re working to get things back on track.

The team is continuing to pinpoint what other issues may exist and are hoping to squash these pesky bugs in their tracks.

Cheers,
Chris_Attalus

They better release the fixes sooner rather than later. Lately, I have been only able to play on mobile during week days and on PC only during weekends. Needless to say that it has been a very frustrating experience when the game suddenly crushed or disconnected and thus results in you missing a full turn and consequently losing a game, even from a much better position. Hence I am forced to climb the ladder only during weekends, whereas during week days I can only play casual lately. The issues started with the release of wild event. Before it, there were smaller issues, but nothing as severe and/or frustrating.

One thing I’m sure of is that they want to release a fix as soon as possible – after all, a big part of their playerbase is mobile-only and they’re potentially losing a bunch of players (and thus money) for every day they can’t play (because if they can’t play HS, they can find another game and get hooked).

My guess would be that re-introducing Wild cards messed something up and it took them a while to even figure out what’s going on. After all, it’s something they have never done before.

I hope that it will get resolved soon, because I usually play 2-3 games each night before going to bed, which is something i gave up on lately after the game started crashing :/

Mostly playing on mobile; needed to reduce my Ladder playtime to a minimum. Experienced exactly the same issues as you, including loosing winning matches.

Bad timing considering the fact that LOR is a new contestant for mobile card games.

Tbh those issues around LoR release would be a disaster – right now not so much (since no one can play it yet).

Indeed. One of the biggest advantages Hearthstone has over it’s competitors (like Magic for instance) is the fact that it can be played on mobile. Once they lose this advantage, they can quickly loose a bunch of mobile players.

Very true. I am not one to ask for compensation easily, but I almost 100% play mobile. And it is actually the only game I play.
The lack of alternative has been one of the only reasons I am still playing. Even though I can’t count the games I lost after giving my opponent some free turns due to crashes or freezes.
Also the whole Hong Kong debacle would have made me quit if I would have had an alternative. Now I just didn’t buy the hex/flex packs which would have and I cancelled my secondary account. *that’ll teach em* 🙂
