Top Standard Legend Decks From Rise of Shadows – Week 8 (June 2019)

I’ve skipped last week, because we were gathering new post-nerf deck lists in a separate post anyway, and there was no reason to duplicate it. Now that the nerfs are out for nearly two weeks, I can say that they somewhat worked. For example, Rogue is still good, but it’s no longer as dominating as it was before. Warrior or Mage not unstoppable, and the biggest winner was probably… Hunter. Midrange Hunter is one of the most popular decks right now, and many players are getting incredible results with it. Another winner is Shaman, because Murloc decks have become more popular. I expect Shaman to become even better after Thunderhead gets buffed to 6 Health tomorrow!

But after almost 2 weeks of post-nerf meta, get ready for another shake-up… tomorrow! The buff patch goes live June 3, and while some of the buffs will likely be irrelevant, we should see a lot of new decks early, because players will experiment with new cards. Whether they stay in the meta or not is another question, but the experimentation period will be welcome nonetheless. We’ll once again have a separate post that will round up all of the post-buff decks (and we’ll probably skip next week of Top Standard Legend Decks again for the same reason as last time).

Below, you will find a full list of the Legend decks from last week, sorted by the highest placement.

So as dumb as it may seem, but are all these #1 Legend players the top representatives of each region, or do they hit #1, post a deck, and call it a day. And maybe they are, or are not, #1 at the end of the season?

It’s not end of the season – it’s the highest they’ve climbed with a given deck (and reported on Twitter or other social media). Since we post those reports weekly – it would be impossible to post end of month rankings in the middle of the month, for example 🙂 Since this report lined up with end of the month, SOME of those rankings might be close to their final standings at the end of the month, but no guarantees.

You’re right that the players are from different regions (we post decks from all 4 regions – mostly from EU, NA and APAC, but Chinese decks are also present on our site) and sometimes they hold #1 rank at the same time on different servers. But most of the time, player X hits #1 Legend, then a few hours later, or sometimes a few days later, another player gets a win streak and takes the #1 Legend spot from the previous player. Or the player who was holding #1 Legend played a few games and started losing and another player who won at the same time took his place. That’s usually how #1 Legend climb looks like.

Thanks. It can be confusing sometimes. It would seem that the #1 ranking should be taken with a grain of salt then. It’s pretty daunting trying to figure out heads and tails when it comes time to deck build. A new player might see the #1 rank and build it, only to realize later that the particular deck was good only for a short streak.

Thanks for the post, Stonekeep. As expected, Rogue remains a tier 1 class after the nerfs (but a lot less oppressive vs. non-Warrior classes), now decks can afford to not tech vs. Rogue (weapon removal) quite so aggressively, and Mage did not, in fact, break the meta.

My predictions of the buffs patch is that:
    1. Paladin will become stronger and more competitive,
    2. Luna’s pocket galaxy buff looks good, not sure if it’s best for Freeze Mage for its combo potential or Cyclone Mage for free giants
    3. Mech Hunter could become busted thanks to Necromechanic buff, and
    4. Pogo Hoppers might actually be good in the Hearthstone Grandmasters due to Specialist format, but I don’t think they’ll be good for ladder
