Stonetusk Boar & Bluegill Warrior Will Rotate Out to Wild With Charge, New Cards Will Be Added to Core Set Instead

When changes to the basically last cheap Charge cards in the game got announced with the reveal of Core Set, many players were (understandably) upset about them. Stonetusk Boar and Bluegill Warrior were parts of some interesting combos that, while not very useful in Standard, could actually be played in Wild. Stonetusk Boar is obviously great in Quest Rogue (and keep in mind that The Caverns Below is getting unnerfed), and there are some Hunter combos around it. Bluegill Warrior, on the other hand, is a part of Murloc Paladin’s combo.

However, good news for those of you who wanted to play those decks. Game Designer Alec Dawson just announced that they will be moving those two cards IN THEIR CURRENT FORM, so with Charge, to the Wild format. Instead, they will add new cards to replace th em in Core Set – a Beast and a Murloc with Rush. It means that you will still be able to play the Charge combos in the evergreen format – where they don’t restrict design space that much, because the overall power level is much higher.

P.S. Celestalon just confirmed that the new Beast & Murloc with Rush in the core set will be exactly the same as Boar & Bluegill were supposed to be (2/1 and 3/1 with Rush) – just with different names and artwork.
