Shop Update: New Battlegrounds Cosmetics (Skins, Finishers) & Mercenaries Bundle Now Available

It’s Tuesday, so it’s time for the (usually) weekly shop update. This time the main focus is Battlegrounds, with three new items (kind of…). We also have

Here’s a full list of new items:

  • Onyxia’s Rage – New Battlegrounds finisher for $4.99.
  • Lokholar’s Wrath – New Battlegrounds finisher for $4.99.
  • Raiders Unite Battlegrounds Bundle – Eight Battlegrounds skins + two Battleground finishers for $19.99.
  • Alterac Valley Mercenaries Bundle – 25 Mercenaries Packs + Vanndar & Drek’thar Mercenary Portraits + 150 Coins for both of them for $39.99.

So here’s the main issue I have with those bundles. You can buy Battlegrounds finishers for $5 separately, but you can’t get the skins alone. If you want the skins, you have to buy them TOGETHER with those two finishers. Of course, it means that the skins themselves are “worth” $10 and it’s a not a bad price for 8 skins, but I don’t like the fact that you can’t just get them for $10 separately.

Anyway, we also have a new Mercenaries bundle – this time 25 packs + two Legendary portraits (keep in mind that portrait alone lets you play the hero if you don’t own them yet) + 150 Vanndar / Drek’thar Coins. It’s… well, better than some of the previous Mercenaries bundles, but it’s still quite expensive.

The mercenaries bundle is oddly timed, since you’re forced to acquire base skins if you’re missing them. That means that most people will get the Vanndar base portrait, even though they likely own the golden one from doing the chain quest.
