Another shop update dropped today! First, a note: Lu Bu Garrosh, Zhuge Liang Anduin, Dragon Dance Celeste, Red Crane Jaina were already available last week (January 21). As is sometimes they case, they didn’t show up in my shop at the time I was making the post (it’s a pretty common issue that returning skins show up only X hours after the update and I sometimes forget to double-check later). With that out of the way, let’s talk about the new update. It’s on the smaller side, with two new card pack bundles (dynamic, so you might see different offers than I do) and two more returning Hero skins. Returning skins are all Chinese New Year-themed just as last week. Anyway, here are all of the new items that are available this week:
- Lu Bu Garrosh (1000 Gold or $7) – Returning Tier 2 Warrior skin. Originally available from a bundle in December 2021.
- Zhuge Liang Anduin (1000 Gold or $7) – Returning Tier 2 Priest skin. Originally available from a bundle in February 2021.
- Dragon Dance Celeste (1000 Gold or $7) – Returning Tier 2 Mage skin. Originally available from an event rewards track in January 2024.
- Red Crane Jaina (1000 Gold or $7) – Returning Tier 2 Mage skin. Originally available from a bundle in February 2022.
- Lunar Deathwing (1000 Gold or $7) – Returning Tier 2 Warrior skin. Originally available from a bundle in January 2022.
- Jade Serpent Thrall (1000 Gold or $7) – Returning Tier 2 Shaman skin. Originally available from a bundle in February 2022.
- Tavern Special (2000 Runestones or $20) – 20 The Great Dark Beyond card packs + 2 random Legendary cards from the expansion. (Note: It’s a dynamic card pack bundle, your contents and price might be different.)
- Bob’s Bargain (4000 Runestones or $40) – 50 Standard card packs + 2 random Legendary cards from Standard sets. (Note: It’s a dynamic card pack bundle, your contents and price might be different.)
Tier 1 skins are “premium” ones while Tier 2 are more basic. In general, Tier 1 skins tend to include more extra features like completely new emotes, Hero Power animations, unique Hero tray, or some extra visual effects. Some of those might also be included in Tier 2 skins, but usually only 1 of those special features is present (if any). It’s not an official classification – it’s just something we use to differentiate between more basic and premium skins! Blizzard has a few categories of their own for the more expensive skins (Diamond, Legendary, Mythic), but they don’t differentiate between the regular skins.
I do not understand the “tavern special” bundle:
all players who spend money for the game have their GD beyond set almost completed, so the 20 packs are nearly useless.
all F2P players who do not spend money for the game might benefit from the bundle, but will by definition not buy it (else they would not be F2P players).
only the “bob’s bargain” special can be made beneficial by completing the GD beyond collection with the legends and saving the standard packs for the next expansion. (I am strongly considering doing this if the bundle is still available after I completed the event and got all packs from it)
If Blizzard really wants our money they should put more thought into their special offers
Hmm, one question, I am hunting for the Star Ascendent Uther, was he available in Shop or not yet?
His first and only appearance was back in late 2021.
Afaik he didn’t receive a rerun yet.
Ok, thanks bro. I thought I missed him at some point, because all other mecha heroes were purchasable at some point already
Yep, just to confirm, he was never available again after the initial release.
