Hearthstone 33.0.3 Patch Teaser – Standard, Wild & Battlegrounds Balance Update

Blizzard just posted a teaser of the upcoming balance update for Standard, Wild and Battlegrounds modes! It’s the first update of The Lost City of Un’Goro expansion – a very necessary one, given that the expansion’s impact and reception has been very weak so far.

The patch is mostly focused on Standard game mode – we’re getting a total of 14 buffs (there are 16 on the teaser but it shows some Quests/Quest rewards separately) and 13 nerfs. Buffs are mostly to the underperforming Quests and other situational/weak Legendaries, although the Quest buff will need to be serious to bring some of those decks into playable territory (remember, Quest Rogue and Priest were in the 20-30% win rate range). Nerfs focus on Aggro decks (including Menagerie thanks to Jug nerf), but also Loh Druid and some combo cards like Murmur or Wilted Shadow.

In Wild, Everburning Phoenix gets unbanned. The card was previously banned because of an easy to pull off OTK combo including it, but now it’s getting nerfed so I assume that it will no longer be a problem.

And finally, the Battlegrouds patch is mid-sized, with a total of 13 minion changes. As usual, it’s safe to assume that we’re also getting changes to Trinkets and Anomalies. We’re also close to the next Battlegrounds season (likely to drop around early August) which itself should provide a massive meta shake-up.

Until the full patch notes are released, we only know what cards are affected and not how! The patch will drop tomorrow (July 17), most likely around 10 AM PT. Patch notes are usually released an hour before the update itself. It’s not the official timing, but that’s how it works for most of those balance updates.

For now, check out the teasers below:
