Demon Hunter Prologue Is Out! You Can Now Unlock the New Class!

Right on time – Demon Hunter prologue is now out. Players can go through four single player missions to unlock the new class, its Basic & Initiate sets (30 different cards in total) + a starer deck. The prologue itself is rather easy and straightforward – it’s meant to showcase some bits from Illidan Stormrage’s history and introduce the basic Demon Hunter mechanics.

Learn more about Demon Hunter in our class guide!

The prologue (as well as the new class in general) is available for free – you don’t need to pay for anything. However, you will still probably need Ashes of Outland cards (which won’t be free) to play competitive Demon Hunter decks.

However, keep in mind that Prologue being out does not mean that the Demon Hunter class is playable! You can unlock him early, but won’t be able to actually play DH until Ashes of Outland expansion launches on April 7.

When Warcraft 3 came out half a lifetime ago I thought Illidan was a pretty cool guy.
Now he just seems like the biggest edgelord 😛

This is so true! Illidan in (world of) warcraft is badass. But the edgelord in the prologue only deserves a 7/5 card 😛

To be fair, I was also an edgelord back when I played W3 as a teenager. So I liked him. A LOT!

He’s definitely a character most appealing to angsty teenagers… But heck, it might be a nostalgia, however I still think that he’s cool.

Is the story under the prologue going to be purchasable adventure?

I don’t think it will, it was just a short introduction to DH.

We will have a new story in Ashes of Outland’s solo adventure (which will be free).

Pretty impressed with the prologue. It’s fun and straight forward.

I’m not an agro player but I can see why this class could be fun and skilful. Lots of maths in terms of how much damage you can dish out. Outcast seems like a good and skilled mechanic as well. Makes you think a lot about your mulligan.

One question I have, which may sound stupid but are demon hunters getting ‘classic’ cards or is that covered in the Basic and initiate cards we unlock with this prologue + further cards with the new expansion?

For now, it will only have Basic + Initiate. Plus, it will get 15 class cards per expansion this year instead of the regular 10.

But devs have already said that they plan to make a Classic set for Demon Hunter eventually (after the extra cards rotate out). They might use some of the rotating out cards or create new ones. But it’s still far away from now, so they didn’t talk about any details (I’m pretty sure that even they don’t have it planned yet :p).

Thank you dude, you’re so good at replying to these questions: genuinely much appreciated.

Now you’ve said that I remember them saying it when it was first announced. It’s just difficult to keep on top of these things with so much new stuff happening!

I’m pretty impressed that we got two free legendaries for Demon Hunter with this prologue!

Ps. I just followed the link to the guide on this page and it explains that anyway. I normally hate it when people ask questions that have already been clearly explained. Sorry!

No problem, it wasn’t explained in this post in particular, and I don’t expect everyone to click on every link I post before asking questions.

Anyway, I really can’t wait to play Demon Hunter! 🙂
