I understand what the deck is trying to do and I have always been a fan of the non n’zoth control paladin but in kft the n’zoth version that runs Arfus and Skelemancer is by far superior in my view.
While blackguard looks good on paper it’s too hard to get a lot of value out of it..

Not really, blackguard is a really solid pick

I made a Blackguard deck with Holy Light, Ivory Knight and Guardian of Kings. It works very well against aggro decks because of all the board clears and heals. One thing I don’t have that I wish I had was Elise, because in mirror control matchups you really need that extra value to close out the game.

Any comments or tips on how to play this?

Hydros… take secrets that return to hand or revive with 1 health (to be used on Burnbristle or Tirion.

First 3-4 turns, keep the board cleared with low minions… or clearing with Doomsayer or Pyro. Try to avoid using both Equalities. Want one for later more than likely.

Make to to take SOME damage to get value out of your Blackguard. If youre at full health, he doesnt do any damage.

Hydro, Doom, Equality, Pyro. In my opinion… in that order. Burnbristle is a hard one for me to throw back in the deck… cause he is so good early game. So it depends on the matchup. But he really sets up the Corpsetakers while in the deck. Stonehill Defender is also a decent keep early.

Is there a replacement for wickerflame

Sort of but not really. It fulfils two purposes, being a taunt with divine shield that soaks a lot of early aggression, and being a lifesteal target for corpsetaker. Any replacement will do one of these things but not both.

If you don’t care about corpsetaker throw the ‘sticky taunt’ of your choice in, such as infested tauren off the top of my head, or the poison snail if you want a more consistent late draw.

Second chillblade champ is probably the best option if you want your corpse taker to get lifesteal.

Honestly its better just to craft wicker if at all possible. Just about every paladin deck runs him right now. If you want a less expensive paladin deck look at murloc aggro.

Tar Creeper is a decent replacement, trust me it is barely worse than wickerflame.

Sunkeeper seems a bit counter productive in this deck given all the high value minions

It enables trades with your weapons or tokens vs threats, dropping this on a few big minions or a lich king can really help with your opponent’s board.

    why no beardo?

Using Beardo means you have to build the entire deck on the OTK combo. Control Paladin decks are pretty good already, the new Hero just adds a solid win condition.
