Another one of those Hunter Legendaries where you look at it and go, “Maybe next expansion this Hunter Legendary will see play.”

I think that has only happened once in the history of Hearthstone.

3/4 is awful stat wise, and Hunter just doesn’t have the Mech Deathrattles to take advantage of. Weaponized Pinata and Mech Whelp are the only really good ones you would hope for, and I really don’t think that’s good enough, sadly.

In standard this is sadly too underwhelming. With Deathrattle activators rotating out it’s going to have a hard time doing anything, seeing how control hunter does not seem to be on the cusp of rising. In wild, you can do some more interesting things with this (since you can properly build a deck with synergistic cards for this) and as a Wild player, I’m interested enough to give this a go.

I don’t even know where to start with this card. It’s just… so bad everywhere. It’s a 6 mana 3/4 that has no immediate presence on the board. Also, mech hunter wasn’t great. Imagine summoning a goblin bomb from your hand with this thing. The mana is way too high and quite frankly, it’s a 1/5 star card.

Where the card text says “summon a mech and trigger its deathrattle”, the mech it summons doesn’t necessarily need to have deathrattle. Therefore, it has the potential to summon large mechs like Bull Dozer (9/9/7 divine shield)

Before anyone comments to this card they should consider 2 things first 1 are they going to refer to standard or wild and 2 if they’re commenting on tempo have they looked at what all is rotating out and what it means for most of the aggro decks I’m including the cards going to hall of fame like divine favor and the odd/even. Now since I’ve made my comment on that I’ll just post another combo thought of galvanizer this to either 4 or 5 with a 1 or 0 cost skaterbot and necromechanic if have a mech whelpling and pinata in hand this is a pretty ridiculous 9-10 Mana combo if can smash Oblivitron into something granted this is another 5 card combo but it still generates huge value even more if able to drop a cybertech chip next turn if minions are still out. The fastest you can trigger this card is turn 4 turn 1-2-3 involve dropping a galvanizer while this and skater bot are in hand but that requires alot of luck to draw into the cards you’d want for that. So I’m sticking with this as a late game card that can bring out huge amounts of value. Note I’m just going to assume you’ve already thought of the 5/12 taunt and 10/10 face smasher this can also pull. Also please note to hold back any serious insults of a card until more of them have been released were only like 12 cards in and there’s over one hundred more there’s no telling what else this card will get as support.

To help make this easier to notice I’ll try break it down some 3/4 stats is I’d say about 3 Mana this also has trigger death rattle of minion it summons basically a play dead so 3+1=4 now it’s own death rattle Target mechs specifically with it’s summon meaning setting up your hand for the best use can be easier for that I’d give 1-2 Mana the fact that the card as summoned and deathrattles triggered if it has is the big ticket this card basically will be used to summon a 6 7 or 10 cost mech from the hand possibly in the same turn. As a mech it’s affected by galvanizer opening ability to drop it to a 4 cost and is able to be tagged with magnetic minions and fireworker. Overall 6 Mana for it is actually reasonable Considering if it was lower it would allow you to place huge value on the board before some classes would even have the Mana to deal with it turn 6-8 is the main point for field clearing. They have already stated that they are reducing the power due to how overpowered the year of the mammoth was. A lot of decks I’ve seen we’re playing a minimum 1/2 being year of the mammoth with Max being around 3/4 of the deck with either the win condition or the stall for win condition coming from it. Once that rotates there’s going to be a large vacuum since most of the aggro and stalling relied on those cards. To get the idea a couple top tier decks only added maybe 5 or so cards from the entire year of the raven expansion everything else was classic and mammoth.

I totally agree with the point, that the game will be much more slower in the future. Nearly 75% of the most played cards from the last year will rotate out. But i dont think it will be only slower. The play overall will be more focused on minionplay/boardplay. A lot of controltools leaving the game, like Psychic Scream and Stonehill Defender, just to Name two of them. Aggro will still be a thing. Rushwarrior has a good cardbase for that archetype, PirateRogue also has a good Basic set of cards. But the overall impact and value of one single card is lowered a lot for the future. With Deathknights leaving and huge value cards like Lyra the Sunshard – also very impactful cards like Scream will leave. I think the average playtime of a single game will be lowered too. But iam not sure about that. Control stays in the meta, Mass Hysteria is one big card for priest. Control Shaman will find his way back too. Iam excited at all, and interested in a lot new stuff!!!!

I think the Reason why People are pooping on this cad is because of the 6 Mana, and how they see this card considered as “too weak” because of the Stats being too underwhelming in their eyes, But people know that in the long run that because it summons a Minion AND it triggers the Deathrattle, that it is what makes Oblivitron such a Powerful Legendary Minion.

For Example: You can use Oblivitron and Weaponized Piñata for Control Hunter where it’s like you have 2 Pinatas because they have similar stats, and it’s going to give you 2 Legendary Minions in your hand.

Another very powerful combo is “6 mana 3/4 deathrattle: summon a 2/2 and a 7/7 (for 9/9 stats in total) and that 2/2 can also give you a 7/7”. Like Oblivitron and Mechanical Whelp does take some time to find for the combo, but once you do, that Combo becomes absolutely crazy, because you have basically have a 6 mana: 19/20 in terms of value!
Now of course that that isn’t the immediate effect, and it’s 19/20 in terms of “sub-wave stats” but even having a 3/4 that makes a 9/9, much like how Anima Golem is for Warlock (in a scene) that had a drawback was at least, considered to be a good enough card.

I believe that players are still not used to the power being toned down, and thus our first glance is going to be VERY rusty, but mark my words when either Mech Hunter becomes a new meta, or when Deathrattle Hunter makes a return, expect we won’t have eggs and cubes, but Oblivitron and Necromechanic. And yes it does and is worst then just Egg and Cube but we have to use the tools that we got. Especially since we don’t have any cards that properly assist Deathrattle Triggers for Oblivitron. So even if you do happen to have this card, I highly recommend that you DON’T dust this card.

    • TallJake26
      March 20, 2019 at 12:35 pm

Sure, but you could only afford to play Oblivitron if you aren’t being pressed by your opponent. And the only decks where you still aren’t being pressured at turn six would be Resurrect Priest. But even resurrect priest can just psychic scream your oblivitron and whatever minion you play next turn.

And if you aren’t playing against resurrect priest you’re going to do even worse. You could be playing aggro paladin or zoolock where if you spend your sixth turn playing a weak statted minion that doesn’t even have taunt, you’re going to get smacked in the face and lose ten to fifteen health. Then, on your seventh turn you could finally trade in your oblivitron against one of your opponent’s minions and trigger its deathrattle. But there aren’t any hunter mechs that happen to have a deathrattle of summoning any kind of taunt as far as I’m aware, so even if you do generate a bunch of value your opponent’s just going to hit you in the face again for another ten to fifteen damage.

If this was a rogue card, I suppose there could be potential synergies with blightnozzle crawler to generate immediate value with a 1/1 with poisonous and rush, but it’s not a rogue card. Usually you’d have to wait two turns for the full value of this card to be put into effect.

      • Lluadian
        March 20, 2019 at 8:12 pm

You should note there’s a difference between wild and standard play priest is taking a hit since psychic scream rotates aggro paladin loses most of it’s power and takes a heavy Nerf from divine favor rotating. A big ticket card if zoo also rotates keleseth and basically the entire heal zoo. Most of the aggro cards are going to wild so you can probably expect more mid to late game strategies. Also as was pointed out before Hunter has a couple of ways to trigger this in same turn it’s played available and since this is a mech galvanizer can cut the cost down. A weakness to Hunter was your likely to thin your hand fast and even get stuck say dropping mech whelpling for 7 Mana this cost 1 less has 1/2 more stats and can summon the whelpling AND a dragon.

Actually there is a mechathun combo stated earlier but it takes 5 cards to do it Oblivitron 2 arcane shots and then goblin prank the mechathun at end of turn you win.

Whatever the opposite of powercreep is (nerfcreep?) seems to be what they’re going for this expansion… maybe they have learned from past mistakes (KofT and MSG in particular) and they’re trying to lower the overall power level of the game now.

I am so tired of Blizzard always printing bad stats legendaries. Okay I got it, it has an effect which is kinda unique. Seriously tho… 6 mana 3/4 with a deathrattle that can be silenced, which you cant even trigger in the same turn anymore because Feign Death and the Trigger dude minion rotates out. Thats just straight up bad design and one of the worst cards of this expansion already.
I know Hunter was good in the past few months. But making it bad on intention is bullying the players. Not more.

    • Lluadian
      March 20, 2019 at 5:40 am

You have to also look at fact this is a mech card with the goal of summoning stegotron , whelpling, or mechathun. So you won’t play it without that in your hand anyway. This can be effected by galvanizer meaning it can become a 4 cost 3/4 which having that ability as well would allow you to combo more card with it.

  12. Lluadian
    March 19, 2019 at 6:25 pm

It’s not a bad card as a mech it can have cost reduced by galvanizer and there’s also the 1/1 magnetic rush mech that can let you trigger this in the same turn up had both when galvanizer you could play the combo for 5 Mana. The ideal pulls are damaged stego and mechanical whelpling mechathun is alright for stats depending on opponents class. It does require some setup but this will likely see play. There is however one other card that combos horrifyingly well with this. Fireworks technition if had this and 2 of those in hand depending on galvanizers with say mech whelp in hand this would truly be a big value board with possibilty of 4 7/7 minions in total and maybe a stegodon depending on how plays out. I’m surprised I seem to have been the first to bring up the fireworks tech. Galvanizer this twice and you could refill your hand by playing cybertech chip. The only issue is surviving up to that point. But yeah the best combo I see is this and fireworks or this and the 1/1 magnetic rush.

    • Lluadian
      March 19, 2019 at 8:36 pm

NVM I see the other fireworks but it seems everyone ignored the magnetic rush 1 cost that could trigger it this is a card that does occasionally see play but was not really an instant add to mech decks. However with mechrattle Hunter being able to trigger deathrattles in same turn it should show up more and any galvanizer makes it a 0 cost give a mech 1/1 and rush.

      • Minti
        March 20, 2019 at 12:56 am

if you hav ethe fireworks and this that are 3 cards while the leghts of a control deck WITH NO CARD DRAW does not go above 7. So your other 4 cards must contain at least 2 mechs. and galvanizers means that your had will be smaller or you may have the chance to trigger it with your deathrattle. You may want to choose this if you get a gorilla bot. But me presonally i would choose another gorilla bot instead 😀

        • Lluadian
          March 20, 2019 at 3:11 am

Hand isn’t much of an issue like I mentioned we still have cybertech chip even if the mechs are random that can still fill up your hand with cards before playing this before the fireworks in a pinch.

          • Minti
            March 20, 2019 at 3:12 pm

cybertech chip is 3 mana do nothing this turn. Not a great tempo play and filling your hand with it requires combo of at least 6 mana too. Put in the fact that this is mana expensive too. You have a very slow deck. Zuljin could have filled your hand with value with cubertech chip and spellstone though if you survive to turn 10. But spellstone is rotating out so The card that wil lcary hunter into the control archetype is ziliax for now. And i don;t think its enough nor consistent. The mech deathrattles are not that great and if you have zul jin you probably want deadly shots since its a single card not a combo of 2. But may ne you run deadly shot and spider bombs. who knows it may work in some strange way if the meta is more forgiving. A lot of decks lose consistency. The fastes deck in the new meta may be burn stargazer mage. Although secret hunter will still be in the meta so there is some competition there. And if this card does not outvalue secret zul jin i think the cyberchip will be most likely a filler card with unleash the hounds instead of the hunter spell stones.

          • Lluadian
            March 20, 2019 at 8:34 pm

Cybertech chip is 2 Mana and if you want a play Oblivitron fireworker pull mech whelpling then cybertech chip 10 Mana without galvanizers being played and it gives back 4 cards when played 3 with 14/14 stats on board possibly 21/21 any galvanizer could drop this to a 4 cost leaving 2 additional Mana to say tag another fireworker onto whelpling before chip that’s 6 cards for 10 Mana. As I’ve stated also with the 1/1 magnetic rush you could trigger this in same turn summoned. As a side setup could also be used with pinata to provide 2 cards back to the hand and still leaves cybertech chip. You should really look at the rotating cards again a good bit of the cards that make some decks so threatening to early game are rotating.

      March 20, 2019 at 2:35 am

I was the first mentioning the firework tech ;), just to make that clear :P.
But i think you are right! This card will see play! More than we all think. We still have some Deathrattle trigger cards.

      • Lluadian
        March 20, 2019 at 3:13 am

Yeah I just overlooked it but the magnetize rush for 1 Mana wasn’t brought up as a way of triggering in same turn 7 Mana without galvanizer is bad but could easily be 5 or 6 Mana 4/5 with rush.

  13. GcolayaHS
    March 19, 2019 at 5:38 pm

This card gives me cáncer :(, has stats and dr effect for a 4 mana rare.

  14. Minti
    March 19, 2019 at 3:01 pm

Well deathrattle hunter goes to wild. Spell hunter loses a ton of cards. Catrina is going wild, so the big devilsaurs package is gone too. Boomzooka didn’t give us deck archetype and beast hunter loses crackling razorscale. Emeris is a dead card since hunter does not make it that often into lategame without rexar.
So i assume in the new year you will be encouraged to play mecha hunter. Maybe not from this card perticular :-).
Lets point out the obvious its stats are weak, its mana is high, but it has some synergy and it can give you some value for your mech hunter. It can combo well with damaged stegodon, and the pirotechnician and the spider bombs.
The bad thing is that mech hunter’s biggest value is the magnetic package and this does not magnetize anything. It would be really fun card if its deathrattle was summon a mech from your hand and magnetize to it. That way you get that junkbot value of always giving youe mech its crappy stats and always giving you mechs. Although it still has negative synergy since warframe gives you 5/5 worth of stats that could potentially charge your oponents face. It can eat some fo th esilence effects. And there is still EMP whatever his name was that kills a mech.
Another bad synerygy can be pulling your ziliax on your oponents turn. Despite the fact that zil is always a great card you don’t want to run into a priest and letting him deny your healing. Since you got no more :D.
This card will not bring mech hunter into the meta but its the only thing close to playable for hunter for now.
Its one of those cards that will probably be good by the end of the year, but for now is worthless. You will not want to craft this. And you most likely will get this as a free card or w/e. It has value but it will grow as the mech archtype grows

    Meh.

  16. Taznak
    March 19, 2019 at 1:30 pm

Aside from Mecha’thun OTK shenanigans, this can be used to cheat out large minions like Damaged Stegotron, Mecha’thun (10/10 minion) or Mechanical Whelp. However, it’s pretty vulnerable to silence, polymorph and hex, as most ways to get a free deathrattle activation are rotating out of Standard (Play Dead, Terrorscale, Umbra). Only Fireworks tech is left.

I highly doubt Mecha’thun OTK Hunter will be viable, so the question is, is it worth it to build a Mech Hunter deck around this? Right now, I don’t think so. Maybe if this gets more support. 2/5.

  17. A person who reacts to this
    March 19, 2019 at 1:07 pm

Seems rather good (and of course I only play wild so can only speak for that mode.)
But mech’s like M whelp, Sneed’s old shredder, spider bomb for example could all do well with this. (as long as you aktivaste this deathrattle directly as you play it.

    • Minti
      March 19, 2019 at 2:36 pm

well since you are a wild player i will reveal a secret to you. If you have insta deathrattle triggering abbility, the best minion to play it on is sylvanas. Its the reason she left standart. There will never be a better card than her, and chances are you probably have her.

      • A person who reacts to this
        March 20, 2019 at 12:18 am

Yes sylvanas is good, and you can have her to, but it’s not all decks that actually have minions to steal. (Combo-decks) and against for example murloc or pirate decks, you don’t want to accidentally steal a let’s say 2 mana 4/3 minion that thanks to the loss of all the other boost minions on the enemies field only turn into a 2/1 or something. Then it’s just better to get out your own type of big effective minion.

But yes against a big priest sylvanas is the better option. (but you could include that in a mech deathrattle deck too.

    March 19, 2019 at 10:59 am

The only “real” way to trigger this deathrattle in Standard will be Fireworks Tech.
So 8 mana 2 card (one of which is a 1-of) combo that puts something like 15/15 stats on board. Assuming you win the coinflip to pull the Mechanical Whelp and not some other cheap mech.
Considering all the busted BS we’ve had past 2 years, that doesn’t even sound good enough. But with power levels down after rotation, and if they release some more strong mechs to go along with this, then maaybe?

Meme way to trigger this would be Boom-Zooka. Pull this, one Whelp and a Necromechanic out of the deck, the second Whelp out of your hand. Profit. (Except probably doesn’t even work in the order that is necessary).

  23. TokyoHank
    March 19, 2019 at 10:55 am

It’s difficult to see this card being decent for the mana cost and weak body. Obviously you want whatever this card to pull from your hand to make up for the tempo you lost playing it in the turn before. Right now all we have is Mechanical Whelp and Spider Bomb which aren’t bad options, but there definitely needs to be bigger threats that you cheat out with this card. I’m sure we’ll see some new deathrattle cards in this new expansion, but will it be enough? They could print a new legendary Hunter mech deathrattle minion, but would one legendary be worth it? I have a feeling it might be a Princess Tilanji and Bwonsamdi combo as in it works 1/5 of the time, but when it works it’s GG. The other thing about the card is that you don’t necessarily have to run it in a “mech” hunter deck. In fact it would probably worsen the chances of the pulling the card you want on the board if you have a hand full of mechs.

We need to see what else Blizzard prints, otherwise it might not shine in this next rotation. But who knows, maybe it’ll be meta breaking in the next expansions after ROS ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  24. Skoopy
    March 19, 2019 at 10:42 am

First this seems (already said) really slow. At least i hope Mechhunter can be a thing. Cause Mechhunter has some mech cards already. Spider Bomb, Fireworkstech and Necromechanic didnt see that much play at all. And two of them can trigger Deathrattle. But than everyone will run some silence. It needs more support, but Deathrattle Hunter is not dead yet i guess. Mechanical Welp is the only “good card” i have in mind. Not many other good deathrattle mechs out there… hopefully some more will be introduced. 2,5/5

    • Soxaldinho
      March 21, 2019 at 1:53 am

Spider Bot was a included in every Deathrattle Hunter deck. Also, Mechathun.

  25. Omnitarian
    March 19, 2019 at 10:36 am

As a 6 mana 3/4, you need to make sure whatever you pull is worth it. Weaponized Pinata, Piloted Reaper, Spider Bomb are the decent options.

Mechanical Welp is the juicy option. And with Necromechanic, you could have a heckuva T7 (I’m thinking Wing Blast as an activator?). But that’s a very ambitious combo. This seems too finicky.

Hard to see a good combo with Mechathun (at least with the cards we have currently) but it might be worth it just to pull a 10/10!

  26. CrazyCameron127
    March 19, 2019 at 10:35 am

Mechanical Whelp and Spider bomb are the only things you really want to pull because of the bad statline. It can pull out non-deathrattle mechs as well, so the ability can be wasted on something like galvanizer. Not helping this card is the fact that terrorscale stalker, play dead, and carnivorous cube rotate out this year. If this card came out in boomsday, it would see play in specific mech decks. But now? I think it’s too late to be good in standard.

  27. Soup And Salad
    March 19, 2019 at 10:28 am

Oblivitron does seem particularly weak, especially after Play Dead and Terrorscale Salker rotate. Mech Hunter is only a fully formed deck in Wild, and this is far too slow to see play in that deck.

Coffin Crasher in Priest really hasn’t done much without being legendary and having a full +3/+1 on Oblivitron’s statline. While abviously Priest and Hunter are very different classes, unless there is some big mech theme in Hunter, there is no chance this sees play.

Perfect Mecha’thun activator? 🙂 We will see if they print some cards supporting this archetype.

Ah, forget about that. Mecha’thun itself also has to die…

      • PakoSlav
        March 19, 2019 at 10:58 am

I think It’s a perfect combo 🙂 Oblivitron for 6 Mana + 2x Arcane Shot for 2 Mana to kill the Oblivitron + Goblin Prank for 2 Mana on Mecha’thun to kill it in the end of turn. You trigger the Mecha’thun deathrattle effect twice in a turn… the second one is the deadly one 🙂

        • SInjin
          March 19, 2019 at 11:30 am

That doesn’t sound too bad but that’s 5 cards you have to have in your hand which are useless until the late game and DS Rexxar is rotating so late game isn’t much of an option. You could use Zul’Jin though. Just have an empty deck play Mecha’thun then Zul’jin which will Goblin Prank the Mecha’thun but that requires a two turn set-up and you have to be in the late game.

I like this idea and I will try play it for sure 🙂 But it will be probably some 4 tier deck, nothing better.

Why do you think so? It is really cool card, it allows combo deck that punish greedy control decks so it is healthy for a game. I played a lot of Mecha’thun Druids and Warlocks, really fun!

Really fun? HS is minion trading card game. With mecha’thun theres no trading. You just cycle your intire deck…
It’s fun? Yes, it’s fun to win if thats what you were trying to say…. But playing against a deck that doesn do NOTHING except for cycling cards is anoying as fuc*

That would be really awkward and maybe the mecha’thun death rattle wouldn’t even go off even if you met all the other criteria because Mecha’thun itself isn’t dead and your battlefield wouldn’t be empty.

Personally I think that this is a really weak legendary without something else to combo with that makes it worth playing…

Maybe they will have support for it but maybe they intend to print the support for it in a different set this year leaving us with an essentially dead pack filler legendary in the meantime.

6 mana for a 3/4 body seems weak and you need a good mech in your hand for this to be effective.
I think it wont be a staple Hunter Legendary…
