Crazed Chemist Card Review

This is like a 5 mana 4/4 with Cold Blood effect. Since it’s Combo not a Battlecry, it’s a bit harder to make it work, but it’s still really big. I could totally see Odd Rogue wanting to run it. A permanent +4 Attack buff is very powerful, especially if you add a body. I feel like this might replace Cobalt Scalebane. While Scalebane has a better body, this being an immediate effect makes it significantly better. Scalebane has a high chance to buff a minion you will never get to attack with, and in case of this, you will very often buff something to trade up or just push for immediate extra 4 face damage.

You can play it with Southsea Deckhand on Turn 6 to get a 6/1 with Charge and a 4/4, really solid play. On top of that, Odd Rogue sticking any minion on the board will be even more deadly. I think that this card will see a bit of play. I feel like it’s still worse than Fungalmancer, because it doesn’t buff health, but Scalebane is often too slow in that deck, unlike this card. The only issue is that activating combo on a 5 mana card is not always easy, but Odd Rogue can already make it work on Vilespine Slayer.

Sure the effect is instant but needs another card to be effective, so this is not really a turn 5 card. You can play something like Deckhand and this, and deal 6 dmg without letting the opponent react, but Scalebane needs an immediate answer because the effect repeats every turn.
    I don’t know, for me it’s worse than Scalebane…

Well, both this card and Scalebane need something to stick on the board for it to be played, so Scalebane isn’t necessary a turn 5 play (you get some tempo but your opponent will respond to it).

Probably worse in Odd Rogue then Cobalt Scalebane, a card some pros were cutting because it was only good when you’re ahead. This suffers from the same problem, as well as being a combo card, making it even slower. Really you’d only want to run this if you couldn’t run Cold Blood, but why wouldn’t you? I doubt Spiteful Rogue will ever be a thing that works so… this isn’t good.

    Great card

but takes same manaslot as vilespine while having similar stats

4/5 until vilespine rotates out. 5/5 after.

This doesn’t seem like vilespine decks would want to run this anyway, or do they?
This seems to be way better in faster decks. But generally, it’s too slow for aggro. Meh

It’s the same cost as Cobalt Scalebane, has 1/1 less in stats and the buff can occur at most once, but it’s instant instead of “end of turn” and is +1 damage.

In short, very comparable. It will fit better in very aggressive lists, and worse in more midrangy aggro decks, but when you consider that Cobalt Scale doesn’t see play in most rogue lists, this might not either.

Still, I think it takes the place of Fungalmancer in a lot of Odd rogue lists. It has +2+2 in stats at the cost of +4 health buff on your minions, but the buff is easier to land since you only need 1 minion on the board.

All in all, 3.5/5, now and when vilespine rotates (Not sure why you think that makes a difference, the two don’t serve the same purpose, so it’s not like one will replace the other).

but it isn’t a turn 5 play were you play a 5/5 minion and buff it is moustly a minion you’ll play later and with those stats it loses in tempo and oficiancy tocobalt scalebane but i think as well that this card is better than fungalmancer.Though i realy think scalebane is just better
2.5/5 good but to mutch tempo lost because it is combo (so it can’t be played on turn 5) and 4/4

Actualy now i thing it is even worse than funglemancer just because of it being a combo card so it is not a turn 5.
          2/5

Your comment makes zero sense. Have you never played Odd Rogue? You very much want to play the Fungalmancer on 5. Your comment about Scalebane being better is weird too, because Fungalmancer sees play in odd rogue, and Scalebane doesn’t (outside of a few unpopular versions).

Calling the Crazed Chemist a tempo loss makes ZERO sense as well. It’s effectively a 5 mana 8/4, very aggressively stated, and 4 of that has charge, it’s about as tempo as you can get.

That said, you ARE right when you point out that being a combo card is a big downside here and probably means it won’t see much play.
