Blizzard Plans Significant Changes To The Future Signature Cards Design

Ever since Signature cards were revealed, a lot of players weren’t happy with how they look. While “grey and lifeless” style fits Death Knight, it’s safe to say that most people don’t find them visually pleasing. Luckily, it looks like Blizzard has heard those complaints. Celestalon acknowledged on Twitter that they plan to significantly change the next round of Signature cards.

It seems like players aren’t completely opposed to the idea of Signature Cards, they simply don’t like the current implementation. At least the vocal majority of them – because I’ve also heard some positive voices from people enjoying how they look like and it’s hard to gauge sentiment of more casual players who don’t engage with social media. But changing them (especially in terms of colors) would probably make most of the community happy.

We don’t know what happens to the current (March of the Lich King) Signature Cards, but it sounds like they are going to stay the same and the changes will start with the next round. While I wish that the current versions were changed too, Blizzard would most likely have to commission artists to redo the artwork. Because from what I’ve seen the originals are already black & white – so it wasn’t a simple filter applied to them that could be turned off. Still, if devs were pressured to rethink their future approach, maybe they will eventually rework March of the Lich King Signature Cards too.

Funny thing is, if those where colored and animated, they would look pretty cool (see LoR for reference). Then again, the difference between those and Diamond cards would be to small.

All in all, Signature Cards are simply unneccessary and a waste of resources that could’ve been used better.

What is the point of these cards? Are they for color blind ppl?

this might seem odd to blizzard, but i really like the plain basic versions best.

golden versions of cards only make me happy because they yield more dust.
i even thought about disenchanting my golden legends and instantly craft basic versions of them.
this is of course nonsense, because if any of them ever happens to be nerfed, such a golden legendary is the jackpot for a hearthstone collector.

i would, however, think about it if “downgrading” from gold to basic would give me some dust, e.g. the dust value for disenchanting the basic version of a card.

However, Blizzard would never do this, because there is no money to be gained for them

Clearl ugly and should be disenchentable at golden Legendary Price. I regret having bought the mega bundle.

Personally, I am completely against the idea of signature cards. Not only are their colors depressingly bleak, but they don’t even come with the sick animations golden and diamond cards come with. I think they should just scrap signature cards altogether and put more work into other more important aspects of the game.

Ugly, and you can’t even disenchant them, and if a signature card get nerfed, you lose twice. Pretty bad if you look the excellet diamond card and now hero portrait.

Yeah and they even don’t fall under the new ‘replace me’ rule… right now, I opened 2 of those ‘beautiful’ Signature Cards that I also got as Diamond versions …

The design looks so ugly and above all, It makes the chance to get golden legends fewer. A Blizz’s step backwards.

“It makes the chance to get golden legends fewer”

It doesn’t, Signature Cards don’t replace Legendaries in your cards, they’re “bonus” cards. If you didn’t get them you would get a Common (or Rare, I can’t remember) card instead.

The only downside is that they replaced Golden Legendaries from Mega Pre-Purchase Bundle :/

And yeah, coz I’ve bought the mega bundle pre-order so I mean that. Instead got 2 golden legendaries, now It’s just 2 black-white cards, so sad.
