(LIVE NOW!) Battlegrounds Demons Nerf Coming Tomorrow (Thursday) – Floating Watcher Moves To Tier 4

Update: The patch is being rolled out now. It should see it live already/soon!

Patch 16.2.4 will be released tomorrow. It will be a server-side patch, so you don’t need to download anything. It’s a quick patch with a single Battlegrounds change (Floating Watcher gets moved from Tier 3 to Tier 4) as well as one bug fix (Galakrond, the Nightmare‘s mana discount will now not override effects like Boompistol Bully).

Greetings Friends!

We have a small 16.2.4 server-side patch going live tomorrow with the following changes:

  • Floating Watcher is moving from Tavern Tier 3 → Tavern Tier 4
  • Fixed an issue that caused Galakrond the Nightmare ‘s cost-reduction priority to negate the cost-increase effects of cards such as Boompistol Bully and Loatheb.

Once these changes have gone live, I’ll be sure to update this thread!

Cheers,
Chris_Attalus

Why didn’t they just add dragons, and make those a counter for demons or something?

So you have a relatively new game, which is not perfectly balanced. Then you nerf everything what’s OP, and buff the weakest strategy…And this New buffed strategy becomes the OP one, and Way more dumb then the ones before..WHAT A COINCIDENCE.How dumb you have to be to do all the balance moves at the same time , all of them in the same direction. Then you expect the game to be balanced. ATM the whole game is about who can get more wrathweavers….then Pick all the demons. Maybe you wont win but it’s guaranteed top 4.

Keeping the game fresh is more important than finding a perfect balance. It’s more genius than dumb.

good, demon got nerfed. rising it 1 tier.
after this, mech will be overpowered, and blizzard nerfed it too by rising it 1 tier.
after that, beast will be too meta, and blizzard have no choice but nerfed it too.
since that, every new meta will be nerfed immediately.

    what a bull. so inefficient.

While I agree that Hearthstone Devs are terrible at balancing their game, this is not an uncommon strategy for trying to balance games. Look at league of legends, it’s been out for much longer than Hearthstone and there are still balance changes all the time. Certain heroes become stronger than others, they get nerfed, then other heroes become the new strong ones.

        uncommon ≠ best.

and I somehow have a dire need to blame the RNG factor in deciding which minions we got.
but, since most of BG rely on RNG, the odds of getting the right minion is mostly differ by luck.
this means, if you’re very lucky, you could get the minion you want on the 1st turn. Or if you’re suck, you don’t get what you want.

And this also means, getting Floating Watcher is purely based on luck, so there’s no need to nerfed something based on luck unless said minions is overpowered. And nerfing it by raising 1 tiers is overnerfed.

If it were up to me, I just nerf it to getting +1/+1 rather than +2/+2

I don’t know about pushing Watcher out to Tier 4; would have much rather seen the Wrath Weaver pushed to Tier 2. Maybe it could swap spots with Pogo Hopper. 🙂

That could be interesting, I can see a Deryl tier-1 strategy buffing pogos with tokens
