Balance Changes Will Be Discussed Next Week After Masters Tour, Coming The Week After

If you read my recent deck roundups, you’d know that I fully expected some balance changes. The meta is much better than before the first round of nerfs, but it’s still far from balanced (Paladin in particular is way too powerful). I hoped that we’ll see them next week, after Masters Tour, but I wasn’t that far off. Game Designer Alec Dawson just announced that they will decide on the balance changes next week and release them the week after (~2 weeks from now).

He made it very clear that the balance changes CAN include cards in Battle-Ready decks despite the note in the announcement that cards in those decks aren’t likely to be nerfed. Honestly, it was to be expected, and the note was really weird – those decks included some of the strongest cards in the game, of course they COULD get nerfed if the meta required those changes.

Anyway, we don’t have any details yet, not even devs have made any final decisions, but hopefully we’ll learn about them soon. I have a few potential candidates and we might cover them in a separate article – we’ll see!

” (Paladin in particular is way too powerful)”

Yeah nothing like seeing a Paladin dropping a heavily boosted Taunt minion on turn 1 or 2 to make my two Wolpertinger I played on turn 1 wet the floor and want to run away.

Hopefully we will see not only nerfs but buff as well.
Iksar was asked about why Dark Inquisitor Xanesh didn’t reduced the cost of already corrupted cards and his response was that they will be looking at it, and honestly the card could receive a buff since it’s mediocre and it’s at it peak performance, it’s unlikely that more corrupt cards will be ever printed.

I’d say that Xanesh is very strong, but his problem is not strength, but rather consistency. If you get him on curve, you’re actually playing a solid deck with all the cheap Corrupts. But if you don’t… It feels like an Arena deck, lol.

Yes, he should discount Corrupted cards too IMO. It makes more sense. But I don’t think that it would make the deck any more viable (what it would need is more ways to discount Corrupt cards or some ways to tutor Xanesh).
