Announcing Outland Innvitational Tournament + Earn 2 Packs with Twitch Drops – April 21

Blizzard has just announced a new innvitational tournament, where 20 Hearthstone personalities will fight for their share of $100,000 prize pool.

Tournament will feature a custom format. Players are split into two groups of 10, each of them taking on a single class and fight Bo3 games against member of the other team. There are 4 rounds in total, but there’s a twist. On Round 2 and Round 4, one of the teams will play full Demon Hunter line-up. Which means that we’ll have two regular 10 classes vs 10 classes rounds, and two rounds with one team playing as Demon Hunters and the other with regular 10 classes.

Outland Innvitational will take place on April 21, starting at 9 AM PT.

Additionally, on April 21, between 9 AM PT and 6 PM PT, Twitch drops will be active. Watch any Hearthstone stream for 2 hours to earn one Ashes of Outland card pack. Watch for two more hours to earn a second pack. Time watched is shared between an entire Hearthstone category, so you can jump between streams and your timer will still run.

It’s time for the Outland Inn-vitational! Taking place on April 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. PT, the Outland Invitational will split 20 well-known Hearthstone personalities evenly into two groups—the Feisty Fiends and the Salty Satyrs!

The Outland Inn-vitational will use a new format we’re calling Demon Hunter Duel-fest, where both teams play against each other through 4 rounds of best-of-three matches. Each player will represent one of the ten classes and play as that same class in every match. However, on rounds 2 and 4, one full team will play as the Demon Hunter!

Here is how Demon Hunter Duel-fest scoring works:

  • The winner of each best-of-three match will earn points for their team.
  • Winning a match earns a team 2 points.
  • At the end of four rounds, the team with the highest point total wins.

With $100,000 in prizing on the line, each member of the winning team will take home a cool US $6,500 while everyone else will still walk away with US $3,500. Additionally, the three players with the highest game score will get a US $1,000 kicker!

All participants will stream their own perspective of the competition on their own channels from the comfort of their home, with the official Hearthstone Twitch and YouTube channels providing match commentary and big-picture updates.

Since it’s guaranteed $3.5k (and then $6.5k for being on the winning team), it’s a bit like paying those people for participating 🙂 And they would definitely need to pay guys like Kripp or Kibler anyway, so they can as well “disguise” it as a prize.

Kripparian not being in the Salty team is nothing but sacrilege!

It’s not only this tournament, you can watch any HS stream.

And you don’t even need to “watch”, you can just open the stream in the background and do something else.
